The knights Salute the Mayor who jumps onto one of the few remaining horses, bringing their shields up and bringing their weapons out.

Suddenly, Zaarok bursts from the ground in the center of the formation of knights. He disgorges a steaming metal capsule from his throat. The capsule pops open, and Selestros cuts down two of the guards before they even know what's happening. Zaarok quickly slays the rest. Then Selestros knocks the mayor out with a swipe of his blade. He picks up the limp body and sprints towards the others.

"We have to leave, now. Before we took him out, the mayor sent Anorak, the Paladin of the Kind Blades, to hunt us down. He has a cunning and ruthless efficiency that precedes him."

“Down!” Selstros whispers sternly. Zaarok dives underground, while the others hide in the bushes. “Anorak sends his Sun-Hawks, small but fierce and noble phoenixes to hunt. Even without his men, they are fast and sharp-eyed. We learned about Anorok in the Academy, he’s a graduate, won’t ket us forget it too. The Sun-Hawk became our symbol a few years ago. Look!” He points, and they see a small streak of light across the sky. “We need to be careful. If he’s using his hawks, we’ve got to get the gun-pouwder right now! And stay in the foliage.”

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning shoots from the ground, knocking one of the Sun-Hawks from the sky. As the others fly over to investigate, GE&C uses the diversion to sneak back to their cave. Selestros and Morf begins setting out hunting traps and other tricks, while Gek attempts to set up a barricade. Zaarok assists in making some pit traps, as well as in creating a clever trick that Selestros calls the 'invisible cube pit trap."

Morf stands turning into a human, " I'm off to get the gunpowder, who wants to come? "

*Invisible cube pit trap: at the end of the cave, there is a split passageway with no observable exits. As soon as someone enters the passage, the mouth of the tunnel shuts behind them. On one side of the passageway lies a door that appears to be locked, on the other, a lever. Gary lies just in front of the lever, taking up the width of the passage. If someone tries to get to the lever, they're engulfed in his acid. Most likely, they'll then run the other way and try the door. Upon pulling its handle, a pit trap opens and whoever pulled the door falls in. Gary then falls in on top of them and acids them to death.*
