A train is going full speed down its rail. If it keeps going the way its going, it will crush 2 priceless paintings, and the 2 owners will be very sad.
You are standing next to a lever. If you pull the lever, it will divert the train down another track, which has another priceless painting on it. Crushing this one will make a completely different person really sad. But it's only 1 person, not 2.
Will you pull the lever, making 1 person hate you but saving 2 people from sadness, or will you leave the lever alone and have nothing to do with situation, taking no blame for it?

I have faced this question many times, and I found that someone had quite a smart answer, so I plagiarized it.
My answer would be to pretend I am blind and deaf, thereby ignoring the people. I'm not the one driving the trains, so it's not my fault if they die. I'm also not the one who put the paintings (or people) on the track, so it's once again not my fault if they die. Although many consider indifference cruel, it's a part of life. If everyone lived, would there be any meaning to existence?

A secret tale, a cryptic trance.
Seek the moon's embrace, where stars align,
Unveil the riddles, the answers could shine.
Listen to nature's whispers, let them be your guide,

Pull the lever, but just remove the painting from the track beforehand. Problem solved.

I think you might actually be the first person to say they'd do that. It's great that everyone has different opinions, it makes it more fun :)
Let's put another spin on things
Again, there is a train going fast along the tracks. Tied onto the tracks a few meters away are 10 people, which the train driver can't see, and will run over. You are on a bridge above this. Another person stands with you on this bridge. The only way to stop the train is to push this person off the bridge and onto the tracks, killing them, but alerting the train driver that something is wrong. Would you kill 1 person to save 10? And could you bring yourself to push the person off?

I would not touch the lever, unless one of the two people that own the paintings in the way is someone I care about. Then **** the third guy.

I'm going to make this a little harder.
What about if the paintings on the tracks were actually people? Would you kill one person to save 2?

I agree with Klein 100%, both if they’re paintings and if they’re people.
