Which of these stats sound better? Rolling a d6 for knowledge and (point buy like system) for agility, strength, and charm, or roll a d6 for charm and point buy for agility, strength, and knowledge.
Point Buy for all scores will make for fairer play. Also, no Con?

Honestly maybe rolling for both charm and knowledge and then point but for strength and agility would be cool. Spellcasters are generally harder to balance than martials so it would have a cool aspect of uncertainty when considering spellcasting DCs and such maybe

I would do that, but I don’t want my ttrpg to look like a reskin of dnd.
Making sure everyone has lots of fun is more important than originality, and having one character with higher stats than others’ is a good way to decrease fun.

It would be interesting to have risk stats and safe stats though, I personally think it wouldn’t ruin the fun especially if you roll two sets and drop the lowest (like standard stat rolling). It’s an interesting take, especially since the TTRPG style Draken is going for seems more simplistic, meaning stats probably matter less than normal. Since there’s no CON (interesting choice but I can see how that would work) the stat rolling wouldn’t affect your HP, and if you make the DEX point buy, it won’t affect AC either. And if your players do end up complaining, there’s always ASIs and magic items to compensate.

Making sure everyone has lots of fun is more important than originality, and having one character with higher stats than others’ is a good way to decrease fun.
In addition, lots of TTRPGs other than dnd use point buy. Take Pathfinder or GURPS.
