I also found out about the TTRPG WIlderfeast, and despite it not being explained in the packet, it has a system for character creation that I absolutely adore and fits the culinary vibe.
Your character has a Staple and a Spice from your hometown. These should be things that just about everyone from your hometown eats, if not cooks as well (IE, seasame flatbread or piquantatos as a staple and rock salt or gaoler's peppers as a spice).
After that, you have the three courses of your background and what the context for each meal was/is. They read as follows:
Upbringing: What is the meal that defines your childhood? (Example: Rock candy made from honey from my family's farm.) Initiation: What is the meal that made you an adventurer? (Example: a bowl of watered-down porridge with carefully portioned shark meat) Ambition: What is the meal you want to eat most? (Example: a stamped bean bun while I tell my family the secrets of arcsteel)
After each course, you explain exactly why it means something to you. Even better, it changes your skills depending on what it means. (Example: your family had very little pocket money, so the rock candy was all you really had. You learned that sharing food was a good way to make friends in those years. +1 to your Hoard skill.l)
Then you have your connection to another party member, as is standard for most RPGs.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.
Another quirk of the system: You list one single-word trait that your character has, and another one that they strive for.
I've started work for one on Sam from GreyLock. Here's what I have:
Staple: sausage Spice: rock sugar packets
You are: Scary But you struggle to be: Kind
Upbringing: TV Dinner with pasta, some sausage shaped roughly into pork chops, and corn. This was Sam's primary meal option, as his parents didn't know how to cook and typically didn't have the inclination to get takeout or the TV Dinners with mac n' cheese or desserts, except on birthdays.
Initiation: A cheap, greasy, pepperoni pizza dropped by a scared kid. Sam's appearance was always off-putting, but once he learned that he could scare people and take their food to sate his hunger, his place in life as a bully was cemented.
Ambition: A home-cooked meal with meat, vegetables, rolls, beer, and soda pop, all shared with friends. Sam is cripplingly lonely and afraid of other people, and he masks that with aggression. He desperately wants someone to trust or hold on to, but he always pushes them away repeatedly and forcefully out of fear that they will hate him the same way he hates himself..

I think I might force my players to use it when I run my food-themed campaign.
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.
Okay, um... how do you feel about furries? Cause like most of my players are going to be furries.
