Hey guys- Kasrik posted a very good question and its- Oh Hey Markell welcome back.
ANYWAYS! The question is concerning this; If Humans, Elves, and Orc can produce viable offspring then what is their Common Ancestor?
I know nothing about lore, and I think its weird how D&D does the half race A half race B stuff for some races and not others, but maybe gods and beings of that nature? They probably created the races, so technically they're their ancestor??
(That makes no sense honestly)

This is my first time writing something like this, so expect a bit of variety in length and content of the first few entries as I try to figure out the best way to do it

I have always homebrewed it that any humanoid species (or any species that can polymorph into humanoid form) can have children with any other humanoid species. So there isn’t necessarily a common ancestor, except maybe way back in the mists of time.

I really like D&D, especially Ravenloft, Exandria and the Upside Down from Stranger Things. My pronouns are she/they (genderfae).
i just realized how many times i touch my face i did it twice while writing this
In one of my college courses I spent part of a class just marking down each time the professor touched his face to readjust his mask. It was a 50 minute lecture. The total count was over 100. Maybe 112 or so.

In the elder scrolls lore, orcs are just another form of elf/"mer". That leaves just elves and humans to consider, and the natural answer is that half-elves are actually the original species, and both humans and elves are their offshoots.
Oh- Why not a RP Thread Based off of Avatar or something like that?
just watched Avatar The Last Airbender last night, so classic. The entire show is just so good, no filler episdoes really, good character arcs, the perfect mix of Humor and seriousness

A masterpiece. and then the live action movie and show happened.
The live action movie never happened.
The live action show is pretty good tho.
But I watched it-
Lies! There is no movie in Ba Sing Se. Here we are free. Here we are safe.

For the Netflix show, it had rough spots. But there was definitely heart below it. I look at it how some Star Trek fans looked at The Motion Picture. Not great but good enough to warrant another try. I'm really hoping they can shine better in season 2. There is a lot of promise in it.

Didn't they get rid of the sexist for Sokka? If they did I will never watch it.

It just, doesn’t need a live action adaption though. I haven’t watched it, but at the best it’s probably could only be as good as the original show, and in that case why make it? It’s like everything else now- stone cold cash

That’s like his character flaw that he overcomes. I get that shows shouldn’t support sexist ideas, but that’s not how it works, it’s the flaw he overcomes not his entire character idea.

Yeah. No sexist Sokka. No rant from Katarra about sewing his holey socks. No doubting Suki could be a good fighter or being surprised the Kyoshi warriors were girls.
Though Sokka and Suki did have a nice training scene. They still kept Sokka bragging a little and Suki's like, "Alright. Show me!" oblivious that he's not nearly as good as he made himself sound. Though that does turn Suki from focused warrior to somewhat of a social ditz, but still lovable.

Some people won't watch animated stuff. I know my mother disliked watching movies that were animated. (Although Disney animation got a pass. So explain that.) So it can introduce some people to the world.
And some changes were neat, even if the execution could've been done a bit better. I liked Zuko's crew being the same soldiers he spoke up for in the war council. Zhao being a slimy backstabber fit his personality too. And they were able to make firebending more brutal than the show in couple scenes. (Ozai burning a guy alive for example.)
I get your point. But there are some nice things that came from it.
