Doing alright. Had a nice lazy Sunday. Also was the first time I attended a Mass presided by my parish's new priest. He's got a little different style than mot priests that was interesting.
Though I've definitely been hiding from the cicadas. When they first started emerging it wasn't all that bad. Now you gotta away from rooms with windows in them or the drone invades your eardrum. It's crazy.
Yeah I heard about how two of the Cicada hordes that overlapped where emerging the same timespan this year, and how it was supposed to have like, several millions of them. I actually had an idea once about this Angel/ place from the Bible I think named Abaddon, who was an Angel as well as the deepest pit in hell, filled with locusts that would emerge in the apocalypse to torment humans, and how what if they were large cicadas that burrowed near volcanoes and emerged when they erupted, feasting on all the dead and dying wildlife. They could have been at Pompeii, Yellowstone, All those giant volcanoes, waiting for another eruption.
hehe
(although this is one of the benefits of being deaf; I sleep with my hearing aids out so it's like natural earplugs)

cool! the cicadas sounds really interesting -- kinda like an electric cricket almost
We've got the 17-year and 13-year broods coinciding. So there's a lot of them. I dare say there were ~50 just in the bushes around the backyard patio.
Last time the 17-years came I was young enough that taking a butterfly net and catching cicadas was awesome. (I even tossed a croquet mallet into a tree a few times to get them to fly out. hehe) So was fun. I don't remember about the 13-year ones though, which suggests they were not nearly as widespread in numbers as the 17-years.
Ahh
i don't know anything about cicadas other than the fact that they used to freak me out but now they mostly just annoy me. My little brother always kicks balls into the woods when we're playing together and when I recover it there's always cicada shells all over it
Wow you've got a lot in your area then.
Aside from the massive amounts this year they're generally not bad and I generally can count the shells/cicadas I see on one hand. Maybe two.
So guessing the school year is almost over for you (or already over if you're up at almost 2am) for you, Elliot the Old.
yes, 9th grade is complete. i finished last week (thank god)
luckily i had good enough grades in all my classes that the only exam I had to take was for math1 -- in which that was required by the state so there was no getting out of it
Nice.
The with good enough grades, do you mean that you didn't have to really study for your exams? Or that you literally didn't have to take them? Never had a class where the final exam was optional. (A couple did a final paper instead of exam and my high school band director counted marching bands & concert performances as the "exams" but I wouldn't count that as not having a final.)
ah, at my school if you have an A or B average in the class then you don't gotta take the exam. Usually they also count absences but we had this really crazy thing happen in our district and basically a lot of kids ended up missing a bunch of days so they chose to not count absences against you in the exams this year. (7 absences for an A, 5 absences for a B)
Interesting they count absences. Obviously you won't do as well in your courses if you're not in class but I don't recall much absences being recorded for grades. Only case I remember it was at my university. But even then I was like "Wait, they're counting these? My community college didn't."
Nice way to get out of exams though. I feel like high-school me would've really liked that.
Yes, I'm very pleased that i don't have to take any more exams
my best friend told me that they're having an open studio on Wednesday tho for art class and they really want me to go so im considering doing that. my art teacher is moving to Switzerland and cause of all of the confusion with the exam schedule i haven't gotten a chance to say goodbye to her yet.

I confess it's a shame, When you livin' in a city that's the size of a box and nobody knows yo' name
i’m doing great! Contemplating getting Total Warhammer 3 and also dreading the fact I need to go to school tomorrow because bleh
also planning a DDB wide tea party and a competition in the ten days prior on the summer solstice to celebrate this wonderful community. Yes, a tea party, you read that right.
2am (。ŏ﹏ŏ)
gahh school sucks. are you almost finished with the school year tho?
tea party??? my dog got into the tea box today...
One last week, all packed with finals classes. I have math and English tomorrow and I need to do good on the math test because I would enjoy keeping my straight As, high Honors streak. I am a crippling perfectionist and I probably care way more than anyone else but I’m going to an advanced math class next year so I’d like to feel like I earned it (my brain refuses to accept the fact that I already have above average grades in all classes) but I’m not worrying about English because it’s my best subject (been four grade levels ahead since second grade, getting close to 5 ahead)
and yes, a Tea party! A feywild tea party at my summer palace. With special teas made personally by my good friend Johnny Teatime.
Ooo! Advanced Math class. Which subject? Calculus?
Rather not tell because I don’t know if that would somehow give away any hints as to exactly how old I am (something I am not usually comfortable with sharing) but I don’t think my school actually even has a calculus class. It has everything, and I mean everything, besides different math classes. Like, there’s a photography class and a creative writing class and a jazz dance class and a jazz band class but not that I don’t think. As far as I know.
Doing alright. Had a nice lazy Sunday. Also was the first time I attended a Mass presided by my parish's new priest. He's got a little different style than mot priests that was interesting.

ik, I'm so helpful lmao

@Arch, alrighty. (And totally understand on the age thing.) I will say Geometry and Pre-Calc were fun. I don't remember most of them, but decent courses.

lol yeah I guess. I’ve never actually seen a cicada in real life unfortunately, they don’t live in California so we don’t have terrifying plagues of screaming insects. Ooh what if cicadas sounded like people screaming?
although I feel like not being able to hear things while you’re sleeping would be slightly terrifying for me. Mostly because I’m paranoid about everything and freak out when I hear anything in the middle of the night. It’d probably be scarier not to hear them then.
@Elliot, hope you get to say goodbye to her before she leaves.

Oh and quick reminder Lightning Keep is up. ;-)
OH YES LIGHTNING KEEP
is it normal to like be randomly energetic and do tons of stuff and then exactly two hours later be able to get nothing at all done? And also forgetting about random stuff I usually wouldn’t forget about because it’s important? Anyways I’ll check lightning keep out soon as I can, in a few minutes.
GAH Geometry. I hate Geometry.
random question, have you ever played the game total warhammer 3? I’m thinking of getting it.
On the energetic stuff followed with forgetfulness and not being able to do anything, I've got times of that. But on the other hand I'm also no behavioral expert.
With the sleeping, guess is depends on how you grow up. For me I was born with my hearing loss. So hearing all you do would probably drive me mad. For that matter on one Boy Scout trip someone mentioned how they had a hard time sleeping because a nearby campsite was being noisy. I was just like, "I didn't hear anything..."
Geometry was fun! I don't remember what it was called exactly but I loved taking those things where you were given a couple angles and had to fill in the rest exciting. Plus SOHCAHTOA!
Can't help you on Total Warhammer 3 though. Never played it. If you're ever asking about Civilization V I can help you out, but not much else.
About the hearing, guess that’s true. I really hate not being able to hear stuff which is why if I’m alone 8 usually don’t wear headphones. My father is completely deaf in one ear because he had Meningitis when he was really young, and generally has trouble hearing a lot in general, so I might ask him about that.
from what I know, total warhammer 3 is a dark fantasy war game about conquering other magical factions and defeating chaos gods. Or, you can be the chaos gods! Or well, be their faction. There’s also rats with Gatling guns.
Sentient, gun-loving rats that live in sewers. Truly, the gods hate us. - Warhammer Volo, probably
Hhahahahahaha
they’re called the Skaven, and they are the embodiment of, “Geneva Convention? More like Geneva Suggestion!” And they use an ungodly amount of chemicals and toxin bombs to destroy eeeeveryone. There’s also the chaos demons of Nurgle, the grandfather of pestilence. They can spread diseases to cities to grant their armies debuffs. Also Nurgle is apparently trying to brew a disease called the Godpox which can and will eventually kill the… well, the gods.
But now I've got the right idea on what Warhammer is. (Slipped my mind, it's too late early.)
And I'm calling an Exterminatus for your suggest to be part of the chaos gods' faction. >_>
::P
Awww Nooo but the Chaos gods are the fun ones
i don’t wanna be some boring (shudders) humans…
Me in D&D: Why would I play a human? I'm already one every day.
Me hearing about Warhammer lore: FOR THE EMPEROR! SUFFER NOT THE XENO TO LIVE! WHAT DO THE STARS EXIST FOR BUT TO PROVIDE MORE HOMES FOR MAN?
I have literally never played a human in D&d (or on taverns either. They’re all something special. Like my character Sylvi is actually a fey touched magical witch who can talk to wolves and my character Corvin has been dead for 80 years and decides not to acknowledge it) and I don’t plan on playing a normal human any time soon.
EMBRACE THE BLESSINGS OF NURGLE! HE CARES FOR YOU, SUCCUMB TO THE POX THAT WILL DEVOUR THIS UNIVERSE AND FLOURISH IN THE CHAOS!
Heathen Nurgle-ite! Prepare to learn the certainty of steel even as your mind recoils from THE EMPEROR'S cleansing light! *starts shooting a magazine of a mini-nukes*
