I haven't kept up with your group so far. But for us, our Shadow Sorcerer intimidated Brodan into killing himself. Had a nice darkness with haunting noises followed up with a gust of wind. Coupled with the fighter wanting to make an example of the dragonborn and my warlock being all nonchalantly, "Well if you're looking for a message. I suppose there's things like impalement..."
Was interesting.
I also enjoyed how at the end of that fight there was the dissonance of getting dinner plans coupled with disposing of bodies and that whole Brodan situation.

For me, part of the class I use is determined by the starting level. With lower levels I like early subclasses. At 3+ I tend to think of other classes too with all getting the subclass. (Though for Drakkenheim, been wanting to do my Fiendlock Tomelock for a while. And fits nicely with no long rests in the city.)
