I made a character who cowers behind a massive wooden icon of Fantasy Jesus Christ to protect himself, partially because he's far too weak to carry a sturdier piece of armor, and partially because he would rather people attribute his works to someone who "really mattered, you know?" I think it's fitting that the Jesus-analog would be saving him from an eternal death even as the frail little monster becomes a bit of a martyr himself, taking hits for others and protecting them to the best of his ability.
