Once they came back to their starting city, their quest giver, the Captain (they were originally redirecting lost magic items from a failed expedition but got caught up in this divine family feud), asks them “How’d you guys do?”
Complete silence plus 1-2 sniffles of sadness from the party. I think it got a bit too deep for a couple of new players.

Wizard like very much!) and I even gave them a pet lizardfolk (lemurians, they were called) capable of spitting a ball of flames that dealt EXACTLY 1d6 + 1 FIRE DAMAGE. SUPER HELPFUL!
