Dear archival readers: Many of the images in this thread - including, later on due to this forum's overactive spam filter, the updates themselves- were originally hosted on Discord, back when that was easy and free. I ported them all over to Google; however, it turned out I had done it wrong, and many of the images were only temporarily visible, so I began to redo the process in a manner that appeared to be permanent. Before I finished doing so, Google changed how said hosting works, so although the image is hosted and available at the address, it somehow will not render in pages. Since DnD beyond blocks the wayback machine, there is no unblemished version and many updates cannot be viewed in their original form. Although I would like to fix this, my motivation has been understandably depleted by performing this laborious task twice, and so this is unlikely to be resolved in the foreseeable future. Additionally, the update on Page 120 was marked as Spam when I replaced all of the images therein! Since I made no other Posts on that page, I cannot simply replace it or put this notice here. To see that update- or at least, to find broken images which can be followed as links to the images that comprise that update- go to page 204, where I have put all updates lost in this manner (of which there are several).
In this game, you and the other players with you have only one shared goal: Destroy the nearly invincible godmodder in front of you! To this end: Use ANY attacks you want!
Godmodder: 300/300 HP
Rules And Tips:
1: Don't expect your attacks against the godmodder to actually work. 2: You get three actions per round. These can be spread among posts as desired, or placed in a single post. They can be combined into a smaller number of actions with greater individual power that round. You may also make roleplay posts without actions within them, though anything without an action behind it is highly unlikely to affect the battlefield except highly indirectly. 2a: You can use these actions to prepare for future, stronger, actions. when doing so, state how many actions the future action will take, and track how many you have spent on the preparation, as well as what the future action is- for instance like so: 3/7 big fireball. If you describe the preparations, you may receive a complication in response. solving the complication effectively (usually as a bonus action), in a funny, interesting, logical, etc way, will boost the charge or give other benefits! 3: The godmodder is perfectly possible to defeat... but he has a way of blocking your attacks unless you use attacks that can't be easily countered. 4: If an attack works, you'll only scratch the godmodder (meaning one damage, or two on a lucky hit), and it generally won't work a second time. But with enough attacks... 5: You can *try* to help the godmodder, but he'll always repay your kindness with pain. 6: No sign-ups of any kind required, and newbies always welcome! Feel free to just skip right to the most recent post and start doing stuff. you do not need a character sheet or anything of the sort. For clarity, That means that anyone can jump in at any time 7: When you want to accomplish something, and especially when it pertains directly to other players or existing entities, the difficulty of the action is almost-directly proportional to its value. 7a: This also applies for giving people things (the thing needs to exist for you to provide it) and trying to state something just 'randomly happens'. 8:There are already mechanics for things as a default. If you want your own stuff to have its own mechanics, there is a certain minimal investment before allowing it is worth it from my perspective. 8a: the following is a list of existing mechanics for entities, items, and player health.
Charge points(CP), or actions(worth 1 CP each), are spent on entities in accordance with their stats. giving an entity a stat usually is not affected by how much of a stat the entity has from other sources, with some exceptions noted below. 1 CP is worth 20 HP or 5 Attack. Dodge% multiplies the cost for HP by 1/(1-Dodge), and the cost for DR by (1/(1-Dodge))/2+0.5. When an entity with Dodge is attacked, it avoids the attack with probability equal to its dodge, unless the attacker has Accuracy. Accuracy% multiplies the cost for Attack by (1+Accuracy), and gives you an Accuracy% chance to deal double damage. If targeting an entity with Dodge, Accuracy is subtracted from Dodge for the entities effective Dodge, and any remaining Accuracy functions normally. 10 CP is worth 1 player action/round on an entity. 10 CP for 1 Shaping per round(Shaping: actions with the mechanical versatility of a player action, but the flavor restriction of an associated Emoji, such as ❄️. Cannot be used to Charge. The use of shaping occurs alongside any other action capabilities.) 1 CP is worth 5 Damage Reduction, regeneration, healing, or Thorns. Damage Reduction may be subject to different prices past 400 HP and 40 DR on a case by case basis; Regeneration can increase maximum health, if the entity has <40 DR and 0% Dodge. 1 CP = 8 SHP( SHP regenerates fully at the end of round. It does not usually benefit from Dodge, Damage Reduction, or Thorns.) 8 CP for 1 ⚔ Shaping in particular (sword shaping is viewed as sufficiently specialised on a flavor level to merit a price reduction.) 4 CP = summon one 1CP entity per round 1 CP = a single use ability worth 25A, or a deathrattle(ability which activates on death) worth 20A; commensurate multipliers apply if the ability uses Shaping, summoning, player actions, or any other effect type.
The power of a charged up ability-an ability which activates once every N rounds at most- is approximately equal to ((charges invested in it)*1.25^chargeup duration - charges invested in it), so a 1 charge ability has the following power at various durations: 1 round - 5 damage/healing/summoning/whatever. 2 rounds - 11 damage/healing/summoning/whatever. 3R - 19 damage/healing/summoning/whatever. 4R - 28 damage/healing/summoning/whatever. 5R - 41 damage/healing/summoning/whatever. 6R: 56 damage/healing/summoning/whatever. If using the ability is mutually exclusive with the other actions of the entity its attached to, the power of the other actions of the entity it's attached to is added to the end result.
Abilities not strictly included in this list are also possible! If you'd like an ability not on the list, you can ask, and I'll generate a price for it; or attempt to summon an entity with certain properties, and I'll do my best to represent them mechanically.
Some Godmodder-summoned entities have Health Levels. each health level is represented by a number followed by a comma- 1, for instance. If a health level is crossed out, it has been depleted. The entity generally receives a bonus or malus to some of its abilities depending on the number of its first undepleted health level, with -4 guaranteeing failure and +7 guaranteeing success.
Items mostly follow the same rules as entities! If an item has no health(for some items) or durability(for others), it may be destroyed at any time. Items generally do not act on their own, however, and must be actively used; they're also targeted for attacks less often, not for mechanical reasons but because I frequently forget they're there. Some items are indestructible, but these cannot be created or upgraded with CP.
when a Player takes damage, they drop one level on the following list! It generally takes around 20 damage per tier to lower a players healthiness that far, though it will sometimes take more and rarely take less. uninjured (this is the default state! it's assumed when no other state is listed) light wounds(easy to inflict, easy to heal, being lightly wounded does not impair a player at all.) minor wounds(Minor wounds slightly impair a players actions- they will occasionally have lower base power) moderate wounds(Moderate wounds impair a player further. By this point, it may be easier to seek healing from other players.) major wounds(Major wounds impair a player even more.) critical wounds(critical wounds make actions supremely inconvenient, and some actions may fail outright. healing from other players is advised.) mortal wounds (if a player with mortal wounds is not healed, they will die. Healing yourself with mortal wounds is very difficult.)
No player has Died under ordinary circumstances thus far, so information about the effects of death is not available. It is known that death cannot put you in a worse position than a fully new joiner of the game would be in.
9:This rules list and post will probably get updated every so often.
This was originally on the Play-by-post section, but then I read over some other play-by-post things and it looks like I misunderstood what play-by-post meant here, so I guess I'll put it in the forum game section. below is the contents of the previous thread.
At the advice of a player, an alliance symbol list is bellow. [OG]= Opposing Godmodder- the default for players, their entity, and things on your side. [AG] = Aiding Godmodder- the symbol for all the Godmodder's creations, and anyone he mindcontrols or bribes. [GM]= the Godmodder's symbol. only he uses it. [H] = Hostile. anything without a bias in who it attacks, But which still chooses to attack, falls under this category. Often insane. [A]= Ambivalent - Someone who isn't aligned with anything. Generally won't attack as much as hostile, and/or is saner. [P]= Player. it is the symbol for anyone playing the game, regardless of their alliance.
Any other symbols should either be clear, or you aren't supposed to know what they mean. For example, in the case of the NO elemental, their symbol was [NO]- A mix of the Godmodder's symbol and a bolded black no, yet it remains essentially allied to the OG side. Modifiers to the alliance symbol are Elite- when an entity is very strong- And shard, when an entity was created using a shard of a stronger one. if a Shard is killed, the power within it cannot be regained. At another suggestion by the same player, a Link to the CTG discord is bellow. you can use it for talking, to receive notifications upon updates, to get answers on questions more quickly, or whatever else people do with Discord servers.
Attack attempt #1: after a few summons and discussions with extraplanar entities from the farthest reaches of the multiverse, my message spreads and travels until it finally reaches the intended recipient. Suddenly a bright flash goes off next to the godmodder, and standing next to him is the great Pun-Pun in all his underwhelming kobold glory. "This is a challenge more suited to 3.5!" he shouts, smiting the arrogant upstart.

the godmodder wins the initiative via a readied action ("Kill the next idiot to decide he wants to attack me") and casts death bolt, forcing pun-pun the kobold to make a fortitude save. sadly, the pun-pun how-to-make description on the internet does not state a +fortitude effect and...6
the godmodders luck holds, giving the kobold a roll under 16. pun-pun dies instantly.

As the smoke settles from where the tiny god died, an archmage with a silly hat pops out of a bush and casts his homebrew variant of disintegrate that uses "wacky" damage.
Given a successful Dex throw beating my 19 DC I do 108 damage
Hopefully bypassing damage reduction, etc. Trying the obvious things first, used a level 20 wizard to calculate everything.

your first hint that something was wrong was when the godmodder's Dex save didn't get rolled.
your second hint came about half a second later, where the middle button on his shirt transformed into a cross between a cream pie and a cow, then fell to the ground. he then, unperturbed, sews on another button.
(the idea is that if he polymorphs a cow into a button, the cow-button would get hit and disintegrated instead of him, or in this case, turned into a cream pie.
-------------------------------
the godmodder's starting to get worried. at this rate, you might get a hit in! the godmodder is preparing something...
Godmodder 300/300 HP
((I'm going to start updating less often eventually, and probably settle into a rate of once per day, but for now, every 2 hours or so it is.))
why are you creating a black hole within five feet of me? I've done nothing wrong!
these are the words screamed by a guy who, through some twists of fate, was named "You" at birth, and ended up with a black hole created near him. he is sucked in. the black hole grows for a bit, sucking lightly on the area you and the godmodder are in. But the black hole grows larger, and later, pulling more strongly. the godmodder begins to lose his grip on the floor...
1 Damage.
the black hole then vanishes when the godmodder surrounds it with white paint, but the damage is done.
Godmodder: 299/300 HP
the godmodder continues preparing something, and a small crack appears in the ground in front of him.
the black hole is no longer covered with white paint. it is, however, a black hole in the ground.
as in, instead of having really strong gravity, its just an empty place people can fall into if they walk over it now.
Godmodder: 299/300 HP
-----------------------------------------
the godmodder finishes preparing the thing. another, unrelated hole appears in the ground in front of him. it starts moving towards you! you'll have to do something about it or you'll fall in!
Good thing I'm an Arakocra! I fly over You's moving hole with (almost) graceful ease.
you fly over You's moving hole and land, but You is dead and the godmodder's hole is still coming closer to the players (whichareallseperatepeopleinuniverseunlesstheywanttoallbeoneperson, incaseitwasunclear) and woodbones. at least You's hole didn't turn around and follow you... that would be silly.
the godmodder stands there and watches as the hole continues moving towards you.
I take a Dimension Door to a space of firm ground that is out of range of the moving hole.
you dimension door to a firm pile of ground up space bars! it is indeed out of range of the moving hole. and the godmodder is standing on it, but you just barely avoid landing on the godmodder. also you bring along iamcharlesworth since you can bring along one person with dimension door.
I cast minor illusion to create an extremely bright light an inch in front of its eyes in an attempt to blind it.
you cast minor illusion, then use that to make a very bright light in front of your illusions eyes, but your illusion is only a light so it creates a light an inch in front of the light which is an inch in front of itself. the illusion ends up flying away from you at the speed of light and doing sweet nothing... aside from lighting up the whole for a fraction of a second. there's something there...
The godmodder notices the sudden arrival of TinyTimcanpy and iamcharlesworth via dimensional door and uses bubsby's player removing hand to push them away, before jumping back to normal ground.
[ooc: oops, meant hole. still letting through though.]
the eye swoops down into the hole and looks around. wet, slimy brick walls line sides despite its movement. the eye looks down and you catch a bright red eye for a fraction of an instant before the arcane eye blinks out somehow. [yes I am aware that the eye wouldn't normally work that way.]
the hole starts chasing you again, looking noticeably more slimy and dangerous... or maybe thats just your imagination.
the Godmodder casts Lesser Dispel Magic on the hole, removing your dominate monster but not most of his more powerful spells. in the time it took, though, the hole reversed for a few moments. you have brought yourself 1.3 turns of safety.
-----------------------------
the whole turns back towards you and starts to accelerate again.
Godmodder: 299/300 HP
Hole. contains red eyed hazard. Slimey ancient brick. 1.3 turns away. slightly weaker.
I take a hold of the hole with a hold action. Attempt to to unhold the whole hole back at the Godmodder.

[OOC: I'm not sure what you mean by "Hold action" so I assume you're trying to do a readied action]
you grab the hole... only to have your hands touch nothingness as the hole isn't solid. moments later, the hole sweeps over to you, and now you're holding on for dear life with only your hands to keep you up... but you're starting to slip.
---------------------------
the hole emits an unpleasant slithering sound. you feel like its a really bad idea to look down.
the godmodder proceeds to reapply what few spells his dispel magic removed.

you start to fly out of the hole when suddenly a tendril lashes out and grabs you, pulling you inwards. what do you do?

The use of shaping occurs alongside any other action capabilities.)
1 CP is worth 5 Damage Reduction, regeneration, healing, or Thorns. Damage Reduction may be subject to different prices past 400 HP and 40 DR on a case by case basis; Regeneration can increase maximum health, if the entity has <40 DR and 0% Dodge.
1 CP = 8 SHP( SHP regenerates fully at the end of round. It does not usually benefit from Dodge, Damage Reduction, or Thorns.)
8 CP for 1 ⚔ Shaping in particular (sword shaping is viewed as sufficiently specialised on a flavor level to merit a price reduction.)
4 CP = summon one 1CP entity per round
1 CP = a single use ability worth 25A, or a deathrattle(ability which activates on death) worth 20A; commensurate multipliers apply if the ability uses Shaping, summoning, player actions, or any other effect type.
The power of a charged up ability-an ability which activates once every N rounds at most- is approximately equal to ((charges invested in it)*1.25^chargeup duration - charges invested in it), so a 1 charge ability has the following power at various durations:
1 round - 5 damage/healing/summoning/whatever.
It generally takes around 20 damage per tier to lower a players healthiness that far, though it will sometimes take more and rarely take less.
uninjured (this is the default state! it's assumed when no other state is listed)
light wounds(easy to inflict, easy to heal, being lightly wounded does not impair a player at all.)
minor wounds(Minor wounds slightly impair a players actions- they will occasionally have lower base power)
moderate wounds(Moderate wounds impair a player further. By this point, it may be easier to seek healing from other players.)
major wounds(Major wounds impair a player even more.)
critical wounds(critical wounds make actions supremely inconvenient, and some actions may fail outright. healing from other players is advised.)
mortal wounds (if a player with mortal wounds is not healed, they will die.
