The night of the quaint village was dark, blanketed in the coat of a blood-red moon. Odd, the moon was normal just a few minutes ago. This village wasn't very significant to much of anything, simply a roadblock in the way towards the mansion, which was in sight to the adventurers who found their way there. "Please..." A voice could be heard coming from one of the small alleyways of the town, sounding like that of an old man. Actually, it seems he was the only person in this village. Not a single sign of life was seen in this town, except for a creeping red fog that seemed to be coming from the mansion.
Quietly, in a swirl of silvery mist, a figure with a young elvish face and a mask that covers the left side of his face and his left eye appears. He stalks silently on soft deer-skin boots into the lifeless town, from just beyond its borders, senses vigilant.
He has heard a voice from further in already but the town is built crooked and is riddled with small alleyways, passages between buildings that bring to the mind of The Hateful Child the image of worms gnawing through an apple core. Whoever called for help cannot be seen from where he stands, but they are undoubtedly why he has appeared here, alone, in a dark dead town under the blood red moon.
He looks at the invitation in his hand that has brought him here by its magic. So theatrical.
He sniffs the air again, looksagain at the overly large red moon that hangs too low in the sky. It comes together.
Fey.
The Hateful Child begins to laugh, and laugh, and laugh. They do not know what they have caught.
I need to be a swarmkeeper ranger (it's a rather essential part of the character's theme) but I only have physical Tasha's. Is it okay if I make a pdf character sheet instead?

Will everyone stop calling him "The Demogorgon"? It's his name, not a title!
An elf with black hair, and silver streaks along the temples, stands in black and red robes, holding a staff made of glass. He looks about the town with indifference and annoyance. As he walks he notices the emptiness and becomes wary, hearing stories of the mansion he wonders if perhaps some of its magic has been seeping into the nearby village. He feels his thoughts justified when he sees the red fog creeping along, coming from the mansion. Before he can decide how best to proceed forward his thoughts are interrupted by laughter. He turns to see another elf standing there. Almost certain the elf was not there before he addresses them with caution.
"Is there a reason you are laughing or is there some magic causing you to do so? It would be most beneficial to know if that were the case ahead of time."
"What... happened... to this place..." were the very first words of a young, 17-year old Tiefling who had been pacing meticulously through the unusually silent pathways that seem to wind around the air of silence and darkness. Despite her darkvision, Zari herself felt, for the first time since surviving on the streets, in complete unease and dismay. On her left hand was the invitation, now completely plain and inkless since she first opened it, clutched deeply within her glossy-orange nails. Her devil tail sways from left to right which times with the steps she makes amongst her journey.
"Please..." A voice could be heard coming from one of the small alleyways of the town, sounding like that of an old man. Actually, it seems he was the only person in this village. Not a single sign of life was seen in this town, except for a creeping red fog that seemed to be coming from the mansion.
Something happened here.
I can hear someone. She thinks. Her fiery yellow eyes whip around, scanning for evidence like Wednesday Addams herself would do when alone. The voice of the agony, the ones who have suffered from whatever happened here. Seems like the others have abandoned this place. And that voice... it's evidence that there was life here. Before... the inevitability came.

Intruder! Before Zari could even attempt to find the voice, she hears the laughter, prompting her to duck as fast as the speed of light behind one of the walls in case that was a hostile entity she just encountered. Peeking her horned head over the side, she notices an elf cackling manically, but is unsure on whether he is a temporary friend or a full-time foe...

"Is there a reason you are laughing or is there some magic causing you to do so? It would be most beneficial to know if that were the case ahead of time."
Hateful stops. Had there been another being there a moment ago? His uncovered eye flickers over the newcomer's dress and appearance. He takes in the streaks of silver in black hair, the fragile appearing staff that the elf rests his full weight against, and of course, he takes in the sound of his voice, the pools of his elven eyes, his short tone and curt question.
Hateful's voice is croaky, hoarse, faint. It does not sound like a voice often used, and one almost has to strain to catch every word. He is not laughing now. His mouth is set in a thin line.
"You. What are you? Elf from realm of man, and dwarf, and goblin, and base material; or, be you wretched fey, doomed to die?"
The Hateful Child is wearing a dark blue chest piece and skirt, that is scaled to look like a dragon's hide. It has dark pauldrons, and is cinched by leather straps and a belt. On his belt, on one side, he has a wicked looking wand, that on its hilt ends in a blade. On the other side, a rod rests, though you could be forgiven for thinking it an iron club, so dull and heavy does it appear.
"Oh. I hope you're lucky. It is unlucky to be fey, today."
The Hateful Child does not appear an elf dressed for peace, or talking out conflicts. For fey, anyway.

Gelebor raises an eyebrow at the question put to him. He turns to face the elf more, calculating which spells would be best to dispatch him if need be.
"Your lack of answer has me fearful that madness may indeed be the answer. And fey?" Gelebor scowls, "I do not appreciate being confused with such capricious beings. Is there a reason why you believe there to be fey here?" Gelebor's eyes dart briefly towards the direction of the mansion before resting back on the elf.

The Hateful's fingers linger near his belt for a second or two longer, but then he relaxes his arm to his side. "You're so ill-tempered at finding yourself in this preposterous situation that you can't be fey. Good. Fine.
"You live."
The Hateful plucks the now blank invitation from where he had folded it under one pauldron, willing to answer. "I was summoned here, by fey magic. The town is dead, with only a lone voice crying out for aid from somewhere yonder, all under a full moon the size and redness of an abstinent bull's left nut."
The Hateful Child raises his nose into the air and inhales deeply. "Melodrama. Can't you smell it? This whole place reeks of it. This plane is Fey."
Through the darkness an average height blue skinned black haired Genasi monk walks through the streets of the town. His pace is not fast but consistent as he makes his way through the alleys. He hears a laugh and eyes the moon and its unique color. While walking he meets an elf and another conversing,
"Excuse me, might one of you tell me the path to the mansion located outside of this village?"

The Hateful's eyes widen when he sees the blue skinned Genasi approach. One of his master's people, no matter how far removed the connection, is worthy of his respect and a tight rein to his natural inclinations. He does not challenge the Genasi, in fact, he slightly inclines his head at the stranger's approach.
"No. I do not know it, but I will come with you and discover it. I too seek the Mansion on yonder hill."
He turns to fall into step with the Genasi monk without awaiting a response. To the elf, the Hateful offers a final word of warning. "That scream is a hook, to draw you in. I'm no fish to be caught. If you're wise you will ignore it, and come with us to the mansion, rather than suffer whatever diversion they have planned for us."
Gelebor watches the interaction between the elf and the genasi, noticing the elf does not address the genasi in the same manner or wariness as himself.
"The scream? Why would I bother myself with such a thing? You both seek entry into the mansion as well? I do not know the path, but it perhaps lies within that red fog."
Out of the darkness glides a pale elf with black hair, wearing strange facepaint reminiscent of mandibles. They are completely silent except for a faint, chittering susurrus that seems to emanate from them. The wear chitonous armor under pale robes, and carry a twisted staff topped with a glwoing, pitted green orb. Pure black eyes travel over the motley group, then they fall into step alongside everyone else as if it were the most natural thing in the world. They still do not speak.

(can we tell you're an elf from looking at you in this armor?)
The Hateful Child takes a step back, startled. He brings up his rod in his right hand, its heavy club-like head at the level of his shoulder, while in his left hand a wand is suddenly pointing at this new, presumably, invitee. The ring on the index finger on his left hand is suddenly glowing dimly white, and looks like it is made of pure ice.
"That's a good way to get your armor cracked open, chittering cricket."
Gelebor also stops and takes a step back, the grip on his staff tightens and his other hand begins to raise and point at the newcomer. His eyes glance in front of them and behind them.
"Are there any others that would like to make themselves known? I grow weary of all this subterfuge."
Zari couldn't help but follow them whilst maintaining her distance and prevent her existence from being known as much as possible. All this time she had been eavesdropping on their heated conversations with extreme assertion. She initially thought that they were the people who started this mess but turns out... They just came here sk that means they must be... No... Zari's not the type who'd let her guard down... Not even for a slight microsecond.

"The scream? Why would I bother myself with such a thing? You both seek entry into the mansion as well? I do not know the path, but it perhaps lies within that red fog."
At that point, the Tiefling ducks behind another house with her wings closed and slowly follows behind the others without being seen.

I will make myself known in due time... Once I find out what even you guys are doing here in the first place and why you intend on heading there. You know, from all of this commotion... Zari again speaks mentally as she travels into the red fog stealthily behind the others with her footsteps as light as a feather. I have a lot of bubbling questions to answer...
