As important stuff comes up that folks will likely want to refer to, I will do what I can to keep a tidy list of hyperlinks right here in the first post. That way, when/if this OOC gets to be many, many pages long ... you won't have to waste a ton of time sifting through the thread to find this ruling or that.
Getting used to the layout a bit. It doesn't help matters much that when I log on, I am logged on as the DM / owner of the game.
Have you guys seen the campaign page yet? Will that be a useful place to track info? For me, it shows up under 'My Campaigns,' but I am not certain if it is solely because I am the DM.
As players, does the campaign page show up under 'My Campaigns?'
Yes, the campaign page shows up for me under my campaigns.
btw here is a short blurb about Kneecap, I'm working on an expanded backstory because that's fun! :)
Going off the PHB, I would play a Dwarven Life Cleric named Kneecap, a sailor thrown off his ship when he realized it was a pirate ship and he tried to stage a coup. For now, he has given up his sailing ways to find a new way to make his mark.
Nice, nice! this is my first PBP campaign as well, but I’m experienced with 5e enough that I’m sure I can hold my own. I do see the campaign page under my campaigns and did look at it earlier today, looks good so far! As far as I know, my character sheet is updated and complete 👍
I haven't run a game on here before, so I don't really know how the functionality is going to work. I know what it looks like on my screen ... but I am the DM, so it makes sense that I can see everything. I have tried to hide some stuff from you.
Could you please ...
1. See if you can move your character?
2. See if you can move someone else's character?
3. See if you can move the aboleth?
4. How many aboleths are on the map?
And finally, some specific questions.
@Calim, can you see your token at all? If so, can you see what I have placed next to it? I have placed it behind the 'fog of war' feature.
@Kneecap, I have placed two different Kneecap tokens on the board. Can you see them both?
@Someone other than Kneecap, how many Kneecap tokens can you see? Can you see the one I have marked with a red circle?
It seems that everyone can do everything ... which is a probably a feature not an oversight. Like, if a caster summoned a monster or something, it makes sense that they could place a new token on the map.
Can you guys draw on the map? Can you 'hide' your token or rename it?
There is a 'erase all' button on my end too, and I didn't know if it would erase just my additions or everyone's. (It erased all of the additional drawings)
This thread will be for OOC communications, gang.

Can't wait to get started on this campaign, been a while since I wasn't DM but have always loved the sorcerer class.
Edit: Quick question, when will we be starting?

Same question but also,
is kneecap a PC being played by the DM?
No. The character Kneecap is being played by a different forum member. They sent me a PM while the recruitment thread was up.
I understand their purpose, but for my two coppers, when I run games I avoid DMPC's like the plague.
I figure it will take us a day or so to finish characters and to get them reviewed as well. We'll be able to start shortly after.
[This will be the first game I have run on this website and I'm looking forward to seeing how the rules and sheets integrate into a PbP game.]

My character sheet is also complete, I make sure to complete them before I submit them.

Starting to monkey around with the map settings, gang. Please take a look at the following link: https://www.dndbeyond.com/games/5235830

1. Can move my character Dorn
2. I can move kneecap (only other PC shown)
3. I can move the Aboleth
4.Just the one aboleth.
I only see the one kneecap, highlighted with the yellow ring.
I also put myself in the fog of war and now I'm hidden and not selectable so I'm sorry 😂
Just me messing with the dice roller. Feel free to ignore this post.
1. Ability scores: 12 16 14 9 11 13

Awesome, OTheophylus, thank you very much for bearing with me on that.
The map stuff works more or less like I expected.
I see me and can move it.
I see one Aboleth and can move it.
I see what is probably Dorn behind the black fog in the middle but cant click on him.
Awesome. Thank you very much.
Actually, if i click the Token Browser from the tool menu on the side i can add other tokens to the map and move them. Players and Monsters!

Looks like multiple folks can draw on the map.
There is a 'erase all' button on my end too, and I didn't know if it would erase just my additions or everyone's. (It erased all of the additional drawings)
There is a game log button in the bottom right that shows rolls, could be handy!
