All players MUST use Point Buy in their ability rolls.

Backstory: Sven was selected as a child during the choosing ceremony of his tribe to become a member/protector of faith. He has spent his life training and worshipping the remnants of INSERT NATURE DIETY HERE.
Spending much of his life with his tribe and being in the forest. He has known his mission is to protect the lands from the interference of civilization; stand against darkness and corruption to ensure the balance of life. Near the end of his training, he has been sent out into the world to gain true experience, grow his skills, and find a token to signify he is ready to become a priest of the Tribe. Setting out into the world he has found a different light in the world in people. The love, celebration, and friendship is a light that needs to be protected as well.
Basically a fun loving, people hugging, wound healing giant.
The quiet and calm young elf was a mistery even for Fren’hyard. The rangers had found him almost ten years ago, near the bodys of his parents, killed by a party of raiding orcs of the Gwash tribe that were attacking the outskirts of Lyrengorn in the past few months. How he had survived was also a mistery, for the child barely spoke of it and no one was sure who killed the orcs that were found in the scene. Everyone assumed that it was the parents before dying, but Fren was starting to suspect that not all of the orcs were killed by the unfortunate couple.
The childhood of Lyn’daran wasn’t easy, for even in their community the child didn’t have anyone who care of him, so he was forced to steal sometimes to survive, and the few pockets of unsavory individuals in the city started to get a hold of him. At least it was the first impression when the guards caught him trying to steal some supplies from the wyvern rider’s barracks. But soon he lead the authorities towards the brain of the operation and tht led to more detentions. Now his mentor was sure that he let the guards capture him on porpuose, led them to the head to assure him a place among the scouts of Lyrengorn and, most of it, that he had learned of them what he needed.
In the following years, Lyn had excell at many disciplines, specially those who made him a more efficient hunter and killer. He rarely joined his companions in celebrations, and even when he did, he was alone, not really taking part of the fun and jokes. His sarcastic and black sense of humor combined with his reserved nature made him a solitary. Many thought that he didn’t care about his companions. In this they were also wrong.
Just a week ago a patrol of students were attacked and captured by a band of wandering goblinoids, led by an ogre. Many scouts and warriors were dispatched looking for them, even some wings of wyvern riders joined the search. Nobody paid attention to the lone student that left the barracks that night aremd with a longbow and a cold determination. For four days he followed a faint track that kept heading north into the Neverfields. He found the orcs and his ogre leader hiding in a ice cavern getting ready to kill the rest of their captives. He planted his arrows in the snow and called for the orcs. As they were emergin from the cave his arrows were killing them. Finally the ogre came out of the cave, and he led the mounstrosity to a crack in the ice he had discovered. Lured the ogre to its edge and made him fall on it. Firing his last two arros to the knee and talon of the ogre he left it at the bottom of the crack, were a pack of dire wolves killed and devoured the ogre. He witnessed it until the end. Two days later the scouts found him almost freezed, for he had lend his cape to one of the survivors, guiding them back to safety. “ They are my brothers, my clan” he replied as only explanation for his acts.
Now, with his face tattoed as a full member of the scouts, Lym’daran were standing in front of his former master and mentor Fren’hyard, but for all his quiet demeneaor and for his cold blood killing their enemies, he was confident that the young elf will die before let any threat to the Elvenspeak come closer to it. He lend his weapons to Lyn who accepted them with a solemn nod. He knew how important this was to him. He was finally accepted as one of them. He had, again, a familiy.

Immotichey was never the strongest or the fastest in his village He managed to find other ways to contribute, seemingly able to locate schools fish in the waters, or smaller game in the nearby grasslands. This aptitude for nature and ability to attune to the spirits afforded him the watchful eyes of the tribal elders. Upon reaching adulthood in his fifteenth year, he began training to become a shaman (druid) for the tribe.
In his eighteenth year and only a few weeks after completing his initial training, the group of roaming orcs whom the village often traded with, came to raid his village. Realizing his people were no match for savagery of the orcs, Immotichey shamefully fled to the nearby hills. He returned later to find his village decimated. Backstory: (I am willing to change the names of Gods and Fiends to better fit your scenario if needed)
Igneous was born to a priestess of Kossuth, God of fire. The priestess, a human named Karina, had devoted her soul and body to her god, therefore abstaining from any bodily joys. Despite this, one day she noticed that she was starting to develop a belly. One day when she was praying to her God, Karina believed she had a vision where Kossuth appeared to her as a Genie. The Genie claimed that he had given her a son who was to spread the word of fire throughout all planes.
Karina did not speak of this to anyone until Igneous had grown to a teen of 15 years. At this point his Genasi features started to show more clearly. One day while Igneous was studying the teachings of Kossuth, Karina told him to join her in his study. She then sat him down and told him to hold his hands out and concentrate. As Igneous did so, a flame came out of his hand. Igneouswas so frightened by this that he shook his hand and set a fire to a bookshelf in Karina's study. After putting out the fire, Karina calmed down Igneous and told him how he was the son of Kossuth and how he was to bring the word of fire throughout the lands.
Igneous continued his studies until his 19th year when he was praying to his so called father. "Please grant me a sign that I should start my journey to spread your word," he spoke, ending his prayer as he did every night. For the first time something happened when the prayer was over. A Demon, Balor, appeared to Igneous and said, "I am Kossuth, your father. Are you ready to begin my mission?" Igneous nodded and bowed down to who he thought was his father. "All you have to do is devote yourself to me and I will give you greater power than you have ever known." Igneous nodded, "I devote my self to you. Give me your power and I will do whatever you ask." Balor smiled, knowing that he had tricked this man into giving up his soul.
Backstory: Born into a tribe of Orcs, his upbringing would be considered 'rough' by most, but it was all he'd known. Most of the tribe were weary of him with his blue skin, green hair, and the smattering of shimmering scales across his face and shoulders like freckles, but none were outwardly antagonistic. The tribes shaman however saw him as a blessing and tried multiple to times to get him to follow the path of a shaman, to no avail; Poshak held great admiration for the barbarians and would not be swayed away from such a lifestyle. His mother was naturally proud that her son would be following in her footsteps.
After returning from a hunt one day, he found his tribe had been attacked. While no one was left, there was evidence to suggest that some had escaped the attack. Now, Poshak has decided to go on a quest in an attempt to find his mother and the other survivors. (For surely, his mother must have survived; there is no other option in Poshaks mind.)
Backstory: Following in the footsteps of his father, Arthasis spent his entire adulthood smuggling valuables in and out of Athkatla in an, albeit unsuccessful effort to leave this existence of poverty and insignificance behind him. One day a strange tome went through his hands. Naturally curious and somehow feeling strangely drawn to the book, he took the opportunity to study its contents extensively. He soon realized that it contained a series of rituals intended to reach out to a higher power.
Arthasis felt that the powers and riches promised by the procedure were the only means to finally achieve a better life, even though he suspected they would eventually come at a price. Always willing to take a gamble, the young man followed the instructions in the book and pledged himself to the fiendish being he conjured. Then, for a time nothing happened and only recently Arthasis began to develop a range of unnatural abilities. Now the young Warlock wanders the realms in his quest for more power and a better understanding of the bargain he struck.
Backstory: Bunko is a monk trained in the Way of the Open Hand who grew up in a secluded monastery. While he did train in combat, his true passion lies in research, especially in rare Underdark plants.
He was secluded in his monastery for years, known as a reclusive hermit among reclusive hermits. He took an apprentice eventually, however, and decided to teach her all his lore of plants. However, there was one plant he had found that he couldn't figure out. It ate away at him, day and night, until he would almost have given his limbs to find out its properties. Even so, he beat down his curiosity, and devoted himself to teaching his student. She was a promising fighter, and even more importantly to Bunko, an insatiable researcher. Eventually, they became closer even most masters and their apprentices. It was then that Bunko decided to show her his mystery plant. He suggested that they needed to test it, and to his horror, she volunteered. He tried mightily to change her mind, but she was unwavering. He finally relented, and allowed her to test it on herself. She almost immediately seized up, jerked several times, and then fell over catatonic. Bunko tried everything within his power to heal her, but nothing worked. She died 5 days later. After the other monks in his order found out, he was expelled from the monastery he had lived his entire life at. He vowed to redeem himself, and decided to hone his skills (While he was a master, his skills lay more on the side of knowledge and research. He found fighting to be a crass way to solve problems, and generally not very useful.) and devote himself to defending against the menace of the Underdark, using his knowledge of the infernal place to venture in and out unharmed.
(Still developing the backstory a little bit, might update this This should be mostly the final backstory, I might make a few tweaks though)

Backstory: <brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaapppp> Welcome everyone! I'm Chubby Beersmith, a Mountain Dwarf tank. <hic> Ready to drink....errrr.....fight! Yeah! As long as the adventure involves plenty of 12 ounce ale curls, <hic> Chubby is more than willing assist you in protecting your sober butts. He just finished kegging up a mean ale that would be GREAT to bring along with the adventure. <hic>
Chubby is an elder in Clan Beersmith. His claim to fame is that five years ago, he led a militia to fight off an invading army of orcs, attempting to steal Clan Beersmith's precious collection of ale brewing equipment. Ever since then, he’s been adventuring the realms as a hero of Clan Beersmith, far and wide, in search of exotic ingredients for future ale recipes.
A few years ago, Chubby met Cora "Crispy" Perkins (see earlier post from CrispyDM), when he was being harassed at a local inn for being too drunk. He wasn't being an angry drunk, but you know how dwarves get, and it was an opportunity to slam heads with a bunch of scumbags giving him trouble, so Crispy gave him a hand. Or a fist. We became good friends ever since, and Crispy is one of the few friends that he trusts and would give his life to protect. Don't mess with him.
Chubby is an alcoholic, and Crispy is his sponsor (that little angel always on his shoulder, telling him to stop drinking). So, his greatest fear is losing his guardian angel, Crispy.
Backstory: Growing up, Cade never had much ambition for achieving greater heights. For him, the life of a farmer's kid brought plenty enough joy and woe to fulfill his spirit. As much as he was content with his lot with life, the same can't be said of his younger siblings. They spouted their dream of leaving behind the mundane for more exciting ventures. He admonished them time and time again, but to little avail thanks to their uncle -- a retired mercenary and family favorite -- being the chief instigator at times. Funnily enough, as time went on there words began to resonate with him...
What started out as the occasional daydream grew over the years into the first slivers of ambitions. Cade was no fool, however, having had to take on a number of extra responsiblities as the eldest child of the family. It took dedication, money, time, luck, and the right trainer to come even close to making his dream come close to true. He turned to whatever books he could get a hold on for a time from traveling merchants, inadvertently learning much about the world at large that most in the village knew not and cared little. This could only sate his curiosity for so long, however. Luck, as it turned out, happened to at least be on his side. Although both of his parents were strongly against him following the path of his uncle (each citing their own reason), it was his waning spirit and frequently growing failures to focus that eventually drove his father into making a deal with him. If he could earn the approval of his uncle's former merc band, then and only then would he be allowed to carry on seeking his dream.
A decade later Cade leaves the Crimson Thunder after having spent years learning the ways of both a fighter and the livelihood that comes with it. More than once "Mellow Cade" nearly gave into entreaties to return to the simple life. In many ways, he was too nice for his own good, or too quick to accept a low paying job if it did a community good. There were times too that he even tried to avoid the more ambiguously grey jobs by convincing the leader of the group. For these reason as much as his own still burning desire to achieve a greater level of martial prowess (and perhaps more), he sought to leave the band after finishing one last job.
Something went horribly wrong. While he cannot recall the exact details of the event, when Cade next came to, a goblin's hand greeted his vision. /His/ goblin hand. Deathly afraid of returning home in his newfound form, especially as crueler instincts began to manifest, Cade set out on his own in search of the remains to remove whatever curse or spell twisted him. Even if that meant plunging into the Abyss itself...
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Goyo - [Tortle]Druid/Warlock - Circle of Sea/Celestial (Libretalia)
Vogan - [Goliath-Hill]Bard - ???(A Dungeon-Delving Campaign Group C)
Many of these characters are very well thought out, it makes me sad I have to limit myself to 4. (as I don't yet believe I could handle 6, as even experienced DM's claim to have trouble setup up challenging encounters, etc!)
As is said in the OP. Final decisions will be made on Sunday. Campaign 0 (Setup, tying characters together, basic rules, etc so we're all on the same page) will take place on Sunday as well, and go through Monday. Tuesday will be the official start.
Evrik grew up in the small community of Hytoppe whose town center was atop a bald hill that sat near a great forest. The townspeople were a tight knit crew keeping mostly to themselves apart from the few who ventured out into the world to trade for the few goods that the industrious dwarves did not make themselves. Evrik’s mother, Evannugh, lost her husband when Evrik was a small child. As Evrik grew, he found that there was a mystery around the disappearance of his father. Most of his questions surrounding that loss went unanswered or were met with vague recollections or riddles. To help Evrik deal with these questions and emotions, his mother introduced Evrik to a local priest. Evrik found solace through study and conversation with the priest leading Evrik to continue his studies and understanding of the divine.
Through his association with the priesthood, Evrik began taking part as an acolyte in the town’s annual rite of the wood. During this event, the village elders would lay offerings at the alter of order which laid just inside of the great forest. The ceremony was generally a brief and uneventful exercise followed by a great feast in the town centre.
However, Evrik’s continued studies began to raise questions in the young dwarves mind. The yearly ritual of the wood seemed to raise tension in the older townsfolk. And Evrik always felt like people avoided him just a little more during the days and weeks leading up to the event. He always felt just a little more of an outsider at that time of year. Why? And could it be related to his father’s disappearance?
In search of answers Evrik will devote himself to his studies. Learn all he can of the priesthood, the wood, and the natural surroundings that supports the people of his land.
**NOTE TO DM: I have never played a game of D&D. Old computer game player, but never played an actual real person RPG. So read that as "willing to learn, but no idea what I'm doing"
We're nearing the Sunday Deadline. I already have a few favorites. But anyone who is interested in the Out of the Abyss campaign, please still feel free to post here. As NO decision is final until Sunday. Once Sunday hits, I will gather all of the considered characters bio's onto several notepads (mostly to filter for ease of reading personally) and will filter them down to my final-4.
You will know if you have been chosen by roughly mid-day (My time) on Sunday. The time of this post is roughly Midnight my time.
To those who weren't chosen, I want to say this now, everyone here has made interesting characters, I've enjoyed reading them and imagining them as part of this scenario.
So even if you don't make it here, I may love to join you in another adventure in the future, as either a DM, or a fellow adventurer. :)
It seems no one else is posting, so I will be making my decision today. Since I have the free-time to do so anyway. Those who have been chosen will know by today, most likely.

AH yes, My apologies. I'm posting this here AND editing the OP, as CrispyDM pointed out something I forgot to add!
All characters will be starting at level 1.
Thank you Crispy. I knew I was forgetting something but couldn't put my finger on it.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Name: Arthasis Pherae
Race: Human Variant
Class: Warlock
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Charsheet: ddb.ac/characters/4425095/FePjPj
I withdraw my application.
Coriana - Company of the Grey Chain
Wagner - Dragon Heist: Bards.
DM - The Old Keep
Name: Bunko Autumnmourn
Race: Human (Normal)
Class: Monk
Alignment: LN
Character Sheet: Bunko Autumnmourn

Name: Chubby Beersmith
Race: Mountain Dwarf
Class: Battle Master (Fighter)
Alignment: LG
Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?
Name: Cade Olduma
Race: Goblin
Class: Fighter
Alignment: Neutral Good
Charsheet: https://ddb.ac/characters/4511660/gcKCvD (I do not currently have the right content unlocked, so some info will have to be changed accepted)
Goyo - [Tortle]Druid/Warlock - Circle of Sea/Celestial (Libretalia)
Vogan - [Goliath-Hill]Bard - ???(A Dungeon-Delving Campaign Group C)
Jack Vicvan - [Eladrin]Warlock - Archfey
Many of these characters are very well thought out, it makes me sad I have to limit myself to 4. (as I don't yet believe I could handle 6, as even experienced DM's claim to have trouble setup up challenging encounters, etc!)
As is said in the OP. Final decisions will be made on Sunday. Campaign 0 (Setup, tying characters together, basic rules, etc so we're all on the same page) will take place on Sunday as well, and go through Monday. Tuesday will be the official start.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
I have absolute faith that you could handle at least 5 people. ;)
Name: Evrik Gorunn
Race: Hill Dwarf
Class: Cleric
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Charsheet: https://ddb.ac/characters/4531505/H0ic2K
Backstory:

Occassional Dungeon Master.
It seems no one else is posting, so I will be making my decision today. Since I have the free-time to do so anyway. Those who have been chosen will know by today, most likely.
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Good luck everyone!
