Red Larch has been an important stop on the Long Road for two centuries now. Named for a distinctive stand of red larch trees that were cut down when the hamlet was founded, Red Larch is a prosperous community facing dark times. The heart of the Sumber Hills has become far more dangerous, with monsters lurking seemingly everywhere. Banditry is on the rise, and the weather seems to be getting more severe and more unpredictable. The townsfolk fear that dangerous times are at hand, but no one seems to know what to do about it. The inhabitants of Red Larch have become so frightened by the recent “dark doings” that rather than showing typical frontier reticence, they helpfully babble about everything they’ve seen and heard. Most hope to convince adventurers to investigate and put an end to the current troubles.
Walking into the town of Red Larch, you see several assorted buildings. At first glance, you notice several shops and two inns. Red Larch is almost completely laid out along one large, central street. What would you like to do?

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
A hooded figure makes his way through the center of town, adjusted to obscure his grey-black hair and stone-like complexion. He's just shy of 6 feet tall. His cloak is drawn to hide both his armor and possessions, with the intent of making him seem as nondescript as possible. It's a weather-worn cloak, something you could pick up at any general store.
Arvam would like to make note of places of business to tell what their business is, and any caravans that may have been passing through.
Perception: 8
Gesturing for the closest person on the street who doesn't seem to be in a rush, he asks, "Friend. A moment.''
Arvam sees many standard small town businesses, including a blacksmith, butcher, baker, tailor, and a general goods store. He manages to get the attention of a woman who appears to be selling sweet samples outside of the baker's shop. She regards him curiously before responding, but not as suspiciously as you're used to. You get the impression that the townspeople are used to adventurers, down at the edge of the wilderness.
"Can I help ye?" she asks. Then, seeming to remember herself, she says "Oh, care for a sample? They're only 1 sp."

Nessie has heard tale of a town in need. She soars through the air seeking out her one goal. Vengeance. She needs to know why she's still alive and who was the one who did that to her people. She figured a town in such trouble of Red Larch might lead her toward the thing that left her village lifeless, only sparing her.
Nessie lands next to some travelers. Nessie is an Aarakocra and a very dark shade of grey. She is wearing modified common clothes. She does her best to blend in but its hard... you know with the wings. Nessie is a little on the smaller side from most Aarakocra standing at about 4'6". Nessie scrunches her face up slightly...
"I heard this town is a bit off. I'm here to help." Nessie doesn't even look like she's trying to make eye contact. "Who are you? Why are you here?"

Hansel saunters through the roadway, taking note of the various shops, slapping the sword on his belt as he whistles a ballad. He whispers a prayer to Sune, who told him to travel to Red Larch. He ponders if he should go to an inn or investigate the shops.
Hansel appears as a slender half-elf wearing scale mail armor. His mop of blond hair goes to his shoulders and his nose appears a little swollen, a result of having it broken when he was a child. He makes a stern face, readying himself in case someone attacks him, then he smiles.
He walks over to the woman, the large figure and the aarakocra and smiles. "Perhaps I could get a sample after he's done."

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
((given her low charisma she isn't really good at addressing people, it was meant as a blanket question for anyone to pop in. However, since i missed these posts as I was making mine (should have refreshed) she would be addressing the adventurer present, Arvam))
Hansel, the woman gladly hands you a sample as long as you turn over a silver piece. When you bite into it, it's so delicious you almost feel the need to make a Constitution saving throw to keep from dissolving into the flavors.

A tall alien figure also enters the premises of Red Larch. His inhuman proportions draw attention to him like a fox in a chicken den. His slender figure might on first looks seem elven but he lacks any of the fair or elegant appeal of that race. His skin a weird olive-brown hue more resembling old tattered parchment than actual flesh ending in a bold shaven head covered in tattoos written in a language unkown.
Applying human physics the greatsword he carries and the scale mail he wears should be too heavy for his build but he seems unhindered by his load. He's also clad in simple yet functional brown travelling clothes and carries a backpack holding his other belongings.
"The X'rax will take one of these too." A spectral hand holding 1 SP glides over to the woman selling sweets and drops it in her palm. Than it graps a sample and brings it back to X'rax. X'rax leans back his head opens his mouth and lets the sweet drop into his mouth. He savours it and starts out laughing in childish joy. "Oh, your stuff is so amazing. How do you do this?"
Striding further into town he loudly declares "The X'rax is looking for work. Do you have any well paid jobs worthy of the X'rax in this town?" Then he turns towards Nessie cocking his head to his side mustering her "And what are you talking bird thing? The X'rax doesn't seem to have met your kind bevor."
Arvam holds out a silver, about to accept the treat when he is interrupted. He hides his surprise from the woman, but his attention is quickly drawn by the feathered figure and half-elf that approach. "I can't say I'm trouble unless it's trouble that you seek, miss."
For a moment a flash of emotion crosses his features as he eyes Hansel, but he makes an effort to unclench his jaw, turning to the attendant with a practiced smile and hands over his 1 sp. He tucks away the sweet, carefully folding it in a bit of flat leaf and stowing it in the travelling pack he carries. "I seem to be good for business, if this little gathering is anything to go by. Any information you have on jobs would be appreciated, but if you know of any traveling merchants from the North, I'd appreciate that even more so."
Arvam would like to see if he recognizes what either the gaunt-looking figure or winged stranger are?
Nessie cocks her head sharply at X'rax as a bird would, "Well, what are you? I was here first." She squawks out before quickly whipping her head around toward Arvam, "Well, I think I might be looking for trouble, but I don't think you're the trouble I'm looking for."
She looks now at the vendor blankly and addresses the two adventures, "I do not know about jobs, but I would not mind helping you on your travels. I am but seeking one thing and I don't think I'm near it."

Arvam, you don’t recognize X’rax’s race until he tells everyone, and then you still don’t really recognize it fully. You do, however, know that Nessie is an Aarakocra.
In regard to any questions about work, the woman says this.
"Aye, there have been a few rumors passin' around town. According to Old Minny, her granddaughter saw a ghost out in the woods near some tomb, about a week ago. Mangobarl checked it out, and said he saw a goblin skulking around. The constable's also been goin' off about some camp of bandits that's been terrorizing the roads. And—well, nevermind that."
