“We’ve been trapped for too long. Trapped by the machine. It hoards us. Controls us. We become it's slaves.”
The Machine is something that is a part of this realm, makes up the realm, and feeds off of it. The denizens are slaves to it as it consumes their very essence. They are then reborn as a new “self” and the process repeats. Their emotional capacity and intellect remain intact, but they must suffer over and over. However, over time, many begin to forget who they are and why they're here.
Wretched Heroes, can you help them?

Short adventure, Dark Souls style with tough encounters, vague lore, sarcastic NPC's, and unforgiving play. PM if interested.

Alright folks, I’m going to do some tweaking and maybe throw some practice rolls for my own learning.
Does anybody know how to change a thread from recruiting to private or do I need to create a new thread?
Give me a little bit for the tweaks :)

Alright. If I can’t change it, we can move to another thread. The next post will be the start. I hope you’re all ready.
Be advised I’m starting this from mobile and will be traveling over the next few days. Be patient if there’s no DM response for a few hours on some things.

Coming to, the four of you awaken on a large raft made of patched driftwood. Salt licks at your lips and digs at your skin. In the distance, an island comes into view. The makeshift raft seems to be pulled toward the island of its own accord. It's dark and cold.
As you each begin to regain your senses, ocean waves lapping at the made up craft and the salty air are the first things that penetrate them. In that echoed silence, you each begin to realize that the only thing you can remember is your name. How you came to become of this predicament remains a mystery.
The sky above is a swirling mess of blue and purple; clouds twisted unnaturally on the verge of a storm. The air tastes, rather than breathes itself into your lungs. It's old air. Stagnant. Something feels strange and out of place. Have you forgotten something important? Have you been here before?
The raft comes closer to the island, bringing itself up to the shore. A magnificent sheer cliff face is before you beyond the scattered sand and rocks. It appears to be a small island with no discernible life present, except yourselves. A break in the cliff reveals what seems the only way forward. A small passage going deeper into the island.
A voice calls out, faint and pleading. Desperate.
“We’ve been trapped for too long. Trapped inside this machine. The ancient metropolis, it appears...it appears to control us.”
A silent flash of lightening streaks the sky as the raft begins to slowly sink weirdly back into the deep waters around you next to the shore.

Upon coming to his senses, Boran instinctively grabs for his weapons. They are missing. He looks at the others on the raft to check if they too seem weaponless. He then checks to see if he still has the lock of hair he carries with him at all times. Satisfied that we are all in the same “boat”, he bellows a loud laugh at his own thoughts. “If I’m going to die today, it won’t be on this silly thing!” Boran jumps off the raft and tries to drag the raft onto shore before it fully sinks.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Esra stands up on the boat and looks around. He reaches back to get his longbow, but finds it gone. When the boat begins to sink, he immediately leaps off and begins swimming for the shore(Unless it's super far away, then he stays on the boat).
Athletics: 18

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
It’s not too far into the ocean, Esra. Athletics not needed. A small part of the raft is on the shore, the majority trying to mysteriously sink itself into the waters. An easy departure from the raft onto shore.

Odysseus is totally confused , not remembering anything. Especially because he always valued his intellect...or did he?
What?! this might be another joke from the gods?!
But then reality takes places and he is swift : before arriving to the beach, he dons the armor and, once arrived, with great effort he launches the armor on the beach and then help the other one (he said he is called Boran?) to drag the raft totally on the beach
DESCRIPTION:
Odysseus is medium tall men in his thirthies, broad shoulders.
He who comes to know Odysseus describes him as rational, charming and religious even if there is a sparkle at the bottom of his eyes that talks about curiosity, will of challenging his apparent poor origins, will to go beyond
Luckily he is a sailor, if he remembers how to fish
The raft, with the tug and pull of two, is eventually coaxed onto shore. The “mountain” speaking felt as if it originated from your own thoughts as much as it presented itself a purely auditory experience (meaning it’s hard to be sure if it was in your head or a real thing).
The swirling sky seems to be on the verge of a storm, but the air isn’t moving as it should. Rather than accumulating moisture and getting windy, it stays.
Still.
As if if trapped here against its will.
Before you is a massive cliff face that wraps around the island in either direction as far as you can see (it’s a small island but still large enough to dwarf your humanoid sizes by a lot).
The closest way is through. A cutaway in the cliff directly ahead looks like it leads further into the island, about 30 feet straight ahead of you all.
The sky is dark and you get the sense that it’s been this way for quite some time.
Now that the raft is on the shore and you’ve all had a chance to briefly gauge your situation and each other, knowing that the only thing that you can remember is your name, what do you do next?

ODYSSEUS
The paladin thanks Boran nodding his head and then shakes his hand:
"By the way, I am Odyssues, I am sorry but...I cannot really remember anything else..."
and then, more practically, asks to everyone:
"what do you think, what time is it? Shall we search for shelter or going up that only path?""
ooc: dunno which is the ability for orientating and knowing the time, maybe Perception or Nature?! In case:
Perception 15
Nature 11
