Looking for interest on a homebrew open world campaign. You will begin in a large city. You will all be new recruits to the Guild of Guilds (GOG). What that means is entirely up to you. As the name may imply that there is essentially every business under the guild charters (working independently, but together). Monster hunters, bounty hunters, all trades and commerce, etc. can be found and everyone can find their place.
4-6 spots open, I will need level 3 characters (Nothing after Xanathar’s). Point buy, standard Array, or stats rolled in forum is fine.
It is a high magic world, Monotheistic, there will be a “main story” arc going along that you may or may not get involved in. Here is the kicker, we are still going to need a group to come together with a mainly focused goal. (Joining same sub-guild).
I will be posting 1 maaaaaaybe 2 times a day. Let’s see if we can get a group to come together. I’m sure I’ve forgotten something and will answer questions.
Background/ShortBio: A wood elf by birth but a sailor for as long as he can remember, Hermenor has found job after job at merchant ships. Mostly a deckhand at first, the elf has over the years picked up a few things here and there from those hired as muscle for such journeys. One temporary teacher in particular, a halfling lady name Theaclisia Braidsluck made quite an impression on Hermenor and for a couple of years he followed her in her many travels. Under her tutelage, Hermenor become more disciplined in his technique, and soon became hired security in his many jobs as opposed to deck scrubber. Lucky to avoid pirates attacks for most of his young years, once faced by such threat the first time, Hermenor did not stand a chance and went down in the first minutes of the struggle. Left for dead, he eventually found his way back to town with the other two survivors, none of which were Theaclisia. Not sure which crew was responsible for their demise, Hermenor sought admittance into the Guild of Guilds, sure that it was the perfect place to find information regarding the crew who attacked the ship. This is the first step in his journey to find Theaclisia, or at least revenge.
Preferred focus of game: Dungeon crawler
Aspirations: Become strong enough to find his teacher and/or enact revenge.
Question: I assumed you wanted the standard 6x4d6 drop lowest for rolling stats. Or did you have something else in mind?
Background/Short Bio: A military medic that was tired of the corruption in the higher ups in the military/politicians and left, vowing to stop corruption in all forms he finds. He found guilds to be much more trustworthy than big governmental installments like the military so has joined to become an adventurer while still being able to attack corruption at its core.
Aspirations: Helping out others and stopping corruption.
Preferred focus of game: (Diplomatic, traveling, some combat)

I grew up in a noble family being taught bowman-ship as a hobby and learning a little about the arcane arts. When I was around 14 my family was attacked and my home burned. I was able to escape in an underground tunnel with what I could after I made it to the woods surrounding my house I looked back seeing the goblins and some orcs celebrating I then looked over what I had grabbed, I had my bow some leather armor and the two swords I had started training with and a backpack I had packed for a family trip with my scroll of pedigree my ring and some gold. I continued into the woods hiding my face when I was close to my home but as I got farther I started showing my face more. I hunted for most of my food improving my bow skills and selling the skins for more money. After awhile I started to notice myself improving more and more. As I improved with my bow I started making more money for the cleaner skins, so I decided to continue what I knew about the arcane arts and started reading more about them. As I learned more about the arcane arts I started attempting to infuse what I knew into my bow manship. While I am able to do it I believe I could do better with others to help me
Aspirations: Get revenge for his family and learn more about his arcane skills.
Preferred focus of game: Dungeon crawler

Background/Short Bio: From a young age Ragnir always looked up to knights, paladins and other heroes protecting people and wanted to be just like them. He joined a church as an acolyte and eventually trained to become a paladin. For the most part the priests of the church have sent Ragnir on simple errands, having recently sworn an oath to his god, Ragnir is on a quest to uphold the tenants of the oath and protect the innocent where ever he travels. Ragnir believes this Guild of Guilds will allow him to travel to places where he can fulfill his quest and help people while he does it.
Aspirations: Complete his quest (not that it can ever be completed), see the world, and help people.
Preferred focus of game: A mix ofdungeon crawling , diplomacy, and world traveling.
You walk down the hallway, being led by an unusually tall dwarf. Otis, tall and lean with black hair, a big scar cross the left side of his face, leaving him unable to have a beard. He’s the one to show you around this massive seemingly endless fortress of varying Guilds grown together.
“There is where y’err can hang out when ya get some downtime.” Pointing to a common room with a half bar built into it. Fire place glows red and warm. Many other guild members can be seen having a drink. “We call it The Inn”
Walking a a brisk pace you pass room after room. “This here the Library, merchants guild- good for y’err trade goods, y’err folk might this section.... being the chapel and all.” You might not thought it was possible, but this building does seem to have everything you could need.
”But, here we are! This is what I’ve been wantin’ to show you! Y’err adventurin’ type best find yooselves here before the good jobs get takin. Otis brings you to this giant smooth stone wall with scripts scrolling around. (This is the job board posted from every guild. You can get jobs directly from your contacts within your guild. But that doesn’t mean you can’t pick something up to help out someone else. You see literally dozens, maybe hundreds of parchments floating around. To make the intro a little more smooth you’ve all joined the basic entry “adventurers guild”. But you can branch out to more specifics as time goes on.)
An elven man comes from behind you. Brown robes with golden trim, pointed nose pokes out with hints of blue skin tone.... smells like cedar “Otis, wonderful job showing these new recruits around. He eyes each one of you... something seems different with this batch. Feel free to look around, or take any of the jobs on the board. I may have something a little more Intriguing. Come find me if you choose. My name is Y’llvon Serto. You can find me in the library.”
”Right Y’llvon, at least let me show them to they’re rooms.” they nod to each other before parting ways and Otis brings you to the bunk rooms for the four of you. “Hope you like your presents, consider it a welcome to the Guild”
(how about a quick intro, your uncommon item, and of course... what do you want to do?)
"Priton, nice to meet yalls" A 6'2 dragonborn in chain mail armor "Oh and thanks for the Bag of Tricks Otis, this'll be real fun. You guys wanna see what that Y'llvon fella was talking about?"
"My name is Erich, it's nice to meet you all"... "Priton, nice to meet yalls" "It is a pleasure to meet you both, I am Ragnir Strongheart..."
Rowena gives the three a quick once over and with a coy smile introduces herself giving them a polite curtsy, "hey boys... just call me Briar!"
Biar, as she calls herself is a petite ((5' tall and 90 lbs)) and slender human female with light olive skin, pale-blue eyes, and a long thick mane of raven-black hair. For an adventurer, she is stranged garbed without weapons or armor of any kind on her person. Her attire is expensive, elegant, and fashionable... consisting of a colorful silken blue bodice with white lace trim and short red puffed sleeves while her frock is a creamy ivory. All in all, she looks a little out of place...
Briar follows Otis looking about, nodding... then picking up an apple from a barrel in the common room bitting into it before rushing to catch up with the tour as it continues.
”Right Y’llvon, at least let me show them to their rooms.” they nod to each other before parting ways and Otis brings you to the bunk rooms for the four of you. “Hope you like your presents, consider it a welcome to the Guild”
Briar just grins, "I do just love swag,"she giggles as she picks up and puts on her present, a circular band, a golden circlet, a Headband of Intellect fit for a princess, turning to the others, "well... how does it look? A bit much... but I like it!"
Briar turns her attention to the bunk beds and wrinkles her nose and rolls her eyes then giggles, "lavish gifts and first-rate co-ed accommodations, how progressive... but no matter, I'm not shy, how about you boys? Are we shy?" She teases... as she throws her pack on to an upper bunk calling dibs on it! Then leaving her pack where it is on the bunk proceeds to head off to the library in search of Y’llvon Serto, "alright... I'm intrigued... what do have for us then?"
An almost too slender wood elf enters the room after Briar. He wears the old and simple clothes of a well-traveled sailor and his black hair is kept in a mundane short cut for practicality. He looks rougher than your average elf, and the marks on his skin betray his older age despite his innate aesthetic fey blessings.
"My name is Hermenor. I hope to learn much from this place." he says in a humble tone.
The elf then picks up a purplish jewel from atop a table and examines it for a moment. Noticing a small pin and hook beneath it, he attaches the jewel to the sash he uses as a belt, its pristine shine in sharp contrast with Hermenor's overall appearance. "This Insignia of Claws will come in handy."
In response to Priton, Hermenor nods in agreement to the suggested path.
