I've created an artificer subclass. I'm having issues creating two of the subclass features.
In line with Battle Smith and Armorer, the 5th level feature is Extra Attack. I've tried adding it as a modifier with the suggestions I've seen in some other threads but it doesn't appear in the character sheet.
The other feature would just be damage scaling. The idea behind the subclass is that they modify a pistol and every few levels the damage die would increase either in size or by number. I'm not sure if this specifically would work better as an item or something else.
Usually, when I want to replicate a feature from one thing into something else, I will create a homebrew duplicate of the original thing and see how it was put into the system, then duplicate it exactly as it is presented. This would work for the extra attack. As for the damage scaling, depending on the way you want the damage to scale, you could just be able to have it scale within the options of the features.
In addition to that, there are a few common issues people have with the homebrew stuff that I want to point out in case these apply to you:
Make sure you hit save at every possible opportunity. If you don't save on the main page for whatever the homebrew is, all of your changes will be deleted even if you saved the changes on the individual section for each change.
Character sheets that use homebrew take some time to update when homebrew is made. Because there is a delay between updating the homebrew on your account, updating it on the DND beyond servers, and then applying it to every possible instance of the homebrew across the entire website, it takes a bit of time to update. Historically it has taken 20-30 minutes to update but recently the servers have been very slow to update sometimes taking a day.
The Homebrew section of the forums has a TON of tutorials and people willing to help you through the process. I'll provide a link to that section of DnDBeyond here. There are several people in those forums that have a better understanding of the homebrew system than even the staff of DndBeyond do. So they should be a big help to you if you continue to have issues.
