Hi, the Unarmed Strike action is listed as being "1d4" damage, but in the description it says it "...deals bludgeoning damage equal to 1 + your Strength modifier".
Which is it?
My Bugbear Monk lists his Unarmed Strike as 1d4+3 (+3 str mod). The 1 + Strength modifier would be just 4 (1+3).
(ps if any D&D Beyond people read this, can we get a list of what makes up the final values in the character sheet? I'm new to this and sometimes it's hard to know if I need to apply something or if it's already been applied - like proficiencies in saving throw modifiers for example, or the additional damage in weapons or skill checks)

For non-Monks, it’s the 1+Str while Monks use the Martial Arts Die. Because the basic version is hardcoded in for every character. You want the one that says 1d4 if you’re a Monk. To avoid confusion you can touch/click the regular one, hit “customize” and then uncheck “Display as attack.”
The "Display as attack" moves the Unarmed Strike out of the list, but leaves that hard coded one in there, but thank you now I understand the difference! I also must have glazed over the Monk Table, I didn't realise about the Martial Arts die!

It will stay in the list because your character can technically do it if they want to, but by removing it as an attack it should at least not display with the rest of your attacks so you can ignore it more easily if you want to.
True. Its the same ability, just with different rules... just to keep it simple! I like to keep the actions there, as a reminder that I can do them!
Actually I've just compared it to one of my other characters, and it's listed as "Melee Attack" with a damage of 3 (1 + 2 strmod), whereas the Monk is "Melee Attack - Martial Arts", devil is in the detail!

Yup. That’s the key right there.
