Trying to set up some custom magic ammunition for my players to buy, but I'm confused about how to implement it. I see the "Arrows +1" in the magic items I can create, but it seems like it wants me to select a base weapon type.
I basically want to offer my PCs some opportunity to expend a +1 arrow, in order to get the bonus for a single attack roll, but I'm unsure how to implement this in DnDBeyond. Anyone tried this before?
We can’t create custom ammo yet. But you don’t have to create +1 Arrows because they already exist, they just need to be added to the character’s equipment. If the character has +1 ammo in their equipment then when they use them they just have to mentally add an additional +1 to the attack and damage rolls and remove a +1 arrow from their inventory.
I wonder if they have any plans to implement ammunition associations with weapons in the future.
Might be worth asking them about it, especially now that they're implementing dice-rolling directly on the site. For now, if you're using the D&D Beyond sheets with something like Avrae or the Beyond20 browser extension, the simplest thing I can think of is to have the player add a +1 version of their bow in their inventory, and use it when firing a +1 Arrow. It's inelegant, but it'll give you the rolls you want.
I've always named the style of arrows to its abilities, broadhead for damage based arrows. Frogcrotch arrows to hit and bird stunners to be to subdue targets. And you could mix and match.....makes any player go after there arrows. And simplifies thing and adds a bit of history, and dont forget fishing arrows vs. Merfolks! But if you said just +1 it's usually +1 to hit and damage.

I thought that might be the case. Thank you!

Unless they have a +1 Bow and fire a +1 Arrow with it.....

The process still holds, you'd just have a +1 bow and a +2 bow, instead.
And hope the player doesn’t get confused from time to time.
