I am currently creating a backstory for a Tabaxi Sorcerer (Shadow). And reading through the description/quirks, they ride the line of life and death, and the rate of life seems to be slowed (1 heart beat per minute, limited bleeding, etc.) So I was wondering if the aging process would be slowed (Not halted). Possibly a mortal race with this subclass of sorcerer would live much longer and equal to the elves/dwarves in lifespan or more interestingly someone with the body of an adolescent being over 100 years old. If their birth was somehow influenced by the shadowfell.
There is nothing in the rules indicating this, so I'd suggest talking to your DM about it. That said, biologically it totally makes sense for them to have a slower metabolism if their heart rate is lower, but this would have other effects as well; they should not require as much food or water or sleep. So I would not throw it on that angle since that would probably be too complicated.
However, I do like the idea and it kinda fits, similar to say the shadar-kai. It might be that your character looks youthful, but is not in truth. That would make it more mystical and less biological. Perhaps when the character truly dies, or whenever they are unconscious they wither and look like a mottled, mangy (as a Tabaxi) version of themselves until they wake and regain their youth.
I actually talked to my GM today about it after writing up a summarized backstory and he loves the idea of it. So I'm going to be playing as a 10-11 year old Tabaxi, who is actually 100+. (In line with the disappearance and reappearance of Maztica for 100 years between the Spellplague and Second Sundering plus a few years.)

Would love to read some opinions.
