Elrond Alcantar. High Elf Evocation Wizard. He was my DMPC to help pack out the party, so he was intentionally left bland and unoriginal so that other player characters could have the limelight, direct the story, and so forth. Elrond was a mix between a man of lore (so I could communicate vital information to the party that first time players might not know but would need to) but also a heavy hitting Wizard to help even the odds and just generally hold back the hordes to protect the party while they got used to the mechanics.
I like him. He's currently L13 after finishing the Icespire Peak series. Unfortunately, his wife mistook prisoners pinned to the wall of an Inn for undead attacking it in the dark, and had Elrond launch a Fireball without verifying their targets. Now that they've saved the Sword Coast from the undead and the Cult of Talos, they're preparing to go on an adventure to find the materials necessary to bring them back from the dead and undo their terrible mistake...

I was 8 years old playing an adventure with some of my brother's friends. It was an Advanced DnD Fighter with a very kind protective spirit (sort of like a paladin attitude without being a paladin). Killed by a Succubus who was pretending to be an innocent in danger. Lasted 1 hour don't remember the name I think I just grabbed one out of the book from an example. The love of roleplaying never died.
I'm pretty sure I DM'd before I played, so I'll go with a BECMI rat or kobold or something weak like that, that my middle school friends were fighting with their first characters.
A Teifling Warlock named Skamos. I was trying to develop my own city to help overthrow my Demon. My DM didn't know what I was doing when I started my own orphanage, Bank and Bakery to start feeding the city and help develop a better economic state. Then we finished the campaign before I could go any further. It was all in good fun though, would never do that IRL. LOL
5 th lv. Black Dragonborn Druid named Su Gnoma which got its name when I started spelling game and character names backwards and I got this name from spelling Among Us backwards.
My first D&D character was a human fighter with a subclass homebrewed by the DM. I suppose technically paladin might have been a better fit, because the subclass was themed after being a servant of the setting's goddess of death, primarily tasked with taking out undead who are a perversion of the cycle of life and death. The character concept was fun but I was never really able to nail the personality and interpersonal rp in a satisfying way with the character.
I was probably around 7 years old, playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons with my brothers and none of us understood the rules even a little bit. I was playing as a human thief named "Backstab", whose greatest enemy was his evil brother "Frontstab".
I think an AD&D monk with nunchucks and a yellow motorcycle outfit based on Bruce Lee in Game of Death. And he had shuriken which I probably saw in a Daredevil comic.
78, human wizard (rolled lowest so I got the last PC) in a game at a game store, died in first room as I had no idea what to do after I cast my spell. But won a set a d6's that I got to pick from the store for playing.
Later that week (IIRC) it was a 8-9th level ranger in a home game that was very LoTR based. A lot less squishy then the wizard I got stuck with in the convention game.
I'm just getting into D&D, so none of my characters have actually played yet. I do have one that is getting ready for a campaign, though - just trying to find a time for the other players to get together! Anyway, I had a very sick cat when I was putting out feelers for D&D, and when I had to put her down, a friend suggested that I make my first D&D character inspired by her. So my first character is Ladybug Sunmeadow, a Lightfoot Halfling Druid. I'm excited to get her playing!

Interesting that you didn't go Tabaxi! Although, maybe you don't have the book that contains that race if you're just starting out, that would make sense.

Heh, yeah, I was using the starter pack and the character builder tool on here, so I didn't see Tabaxi as an option! I will have to make one at some point, though, because I've always been a cat person!
Hi! I just wanted to know, what was your first D&D character? I think it would be interesting to know.
Soon to be DM.
Currently in a homebrew post-apocalyptic game.
An Elven Ranger Huntress Level 3 with a Dire Wolf Companion, we where fighting hordes of undead. Ended up with killing a Vampire to end it.

Ariendela Sneakerson, half elf rogue and arcane trickster. Played through DoIP and the sequels.
Pretty much your typical rogue.
Only spilt the party if you see something shiny.
Ariendela Sneakerson, Half-elf Rogue (8); Harmony Wolfsbane, Tiefling Bard (10); Agnomally, Gnomish Sorcerer (3); Breeze, Tabaxi Monk (8); Grace, Dragonborn Barbarian (7); DM, Homebrew- The Sequestered Lands/Underwater Explorers; Candlekeep

First character ever? Lawful Evil human cleric in a 2E group that was an all-evil party and all the players were teenagers.
Most people react to that by expressing amazement that I ever had a second character.
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

I played a dragonborn paladin in 4e. It was really fun. I swore vengeance upon my enemies!
half elf ranger....way back in the AD&D days.
when i returned to DnD for 5e, rolled up another half-elf Ranger Hunter. did some multiclassing into fighter for action surge.

I played an elf in ‘78!
He had four hps.

Crusty the Dragonborn sorceror. I totally knew how to use spell slots back then :)
BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!
He/him pronouns. Call me Bard. PROUD NERD!
