So, I saw some Firbolg fanart which depicted them with a tail, which isn't really a detail in the official race description. Which got me thinking about races that aren't described as having tails, but are often depicted with them... you don't have to look hard to see a goblin with a tail, and honestly I've seen more Dragonborn with tails than without. What's everyone think about that? I have to admit I'm a bit anal about that kind of thing and find it annoying, but I also recognize that it's totally harmless and it's totally my own personal issue rather than any kind of real problem. Oh, and also... is there any other race you regularly picture having a tail that doesn't officially have one?
Dragonborn are explicitly described as not having wings or tail.
Dragonborn look very much like dragons standing erect in humanoid form, though they lack wings or a tail.
PHB
However, I saw a game get around that by having the "dragonborn" PC being a Human who underwent a transformation in a Paladin order - an order he eventually left to join a new order... that has only 2 members currently, including him. The process didn't give the transformed Paladins any wings, but gave them tails.
The circumstances on why he was transformed is a mystery as the process was reserved for the best of them... and he's... to be kind... is just not.
On the inverse, I keep forgetting that Tieflings have long tails, fangs, and solid-color eyes.

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.
I recall someone claiming that Tieflings have hooves. The images in the PHB have ordinary, plantigrade Human feet and mention nothing about hooves.

the hooves are from Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, where feral tieflings are called out as *possibly* having hooves.

Trying to get your physical content on Beyond is like going to Microsoft and saying "I have a physical Playstation disk, give me a digital Xbox version!"
in 2e Tieflings could have hooves too. That went away when wotc forced horns and tails on people in 4e. Now with the SCAG options, you can flavor your tieflings like you could in the original days.
EDIT: I don't ever play tieflings with horns or tails. I didn't ask for their stupid lore change, and I do not accept it since I have the SCAGs options.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

centaur with horseshoes of speed. I'd...never thought about that.

by the wording in 5e that won't work on a tiefling...but I'd probably let it fly because it's funny. The satyr and the tiefling split a set and call it a day.

😂😂
A Centaur Rune Knight with Mobile and Horseshoes of speed being ridden by a Bugbear Cavalier with Mounter Combatant and a Lance.
from the min max perspective, centaur cavalier with a paladin on his back with the mounted combat feat. The Paladin can force attacks aimed at the cavalier to hit the paladin, which the centaur can then punish.
Is it legal to actually ride a centaur though? While intuitively they /should/ be able to, I believe the rules state that you can't end your turn in the same square as another creature. By the letter of the law, riding the centaur would cause you to end your turn in the centaur's square. I'm not sure even a halfling with halfling nimbleness can get away with it....by RAW rather than by sense.

Then how does anyone ride a horse if they cannot end in the same square as the horse?
But I made the Centaur a Rune Knight so it can make itself a Large creature to allow the Bugbear to ride it.
by RAW as I understand it, riding a horse is illegal. That's an extremely stupid interpretation of the rule, but as I understand the letter of the rule, is it incorrect?

Under the mounted combat rules I can find the following:
A willing creature that is at least one size larger than you and that has an appropriate anatomy can serve as a mount, using the following rules.
Since specific trumps general, I see no reason why a small race could not ride a centaur.

Yest, they could, but a Bugbear is Medium. I specifically went with a Bugbear because their Long Limbed feature stacks with Reach to give them a 15-foot strike distance with a Lance when mounted.
