What do you think ofa home brew world based on characters and settings from Shakespeare? Or using some of Shakespeare’s plays as adventure ideas for Forgotten Realms or Ravenloft?
Any ideas you guys can brainstorm would be great 😊
Definitely have an old wizard hermit living on an island with his daughter and fey familiar, who's secretly a lost noble of an important kingdom (Tempest).
Also Macbeth almost writes itself into a campaign.
Why not? I mean, for heaven's sake, we call him "the Bard"! :D
Much Ado About Nothing could be a one-shot for a group wanting to try their hands at playing evil characters ("Roll to persuade Margaret to dress in Hero's clothing"). Twelfth Night could be Sebastian and Olivia suffering the consequences of splitting the party 😂

If I’m gonna play Much Ado, I wanna be either Benedick or Beatrice. That’s my absolute favorite play of all time.

I think the Prince, Don Pedro, is an underappreciated character. It is, after all, his sense of humor that leads to the jest which forces Benedick and Beatrice to face up to their feelings, and the root of their enmity ;) And his scene with Beatrice I've always found touching.
Also, I think playing Dogberry well could be a riot :D

Funny you should mention Kurosawa; my dad likes to tell the story of the time he was watching a film of his, and while he had very little idea of what the actors were saying, he apparently enjoyed it immensely—especially once he saw a lady washing her hands and realized he was watching an adaptation of Macbeth.

I've had one of those "wait! This is a remake of a classic movie!" moments before.
I'm loathe to admit it, but I was actually watching the movieBarb Wire when I suddenly realized I was watching a really badly done remake ofCasablanca ( albeit with much more artificial cleavage than the original ).

It was, but nothing beats the scene where Beatrice asks Benedick to “Kill. Claudio.” And through he says “Not for the wide world” he goes and confronts Claudio and whispers death at him. *shivers*

If you want to give the party a moral dilemma, I suggest creating characters based on the Merchant of Venice. Rewrite Shylock as a one of the playable races in Volo's Guide, like a Bugbear, Hobgoblin, or Orc. Have Antonio be an NPC friend of the party, as established by previous adventures. Arrange it so that the Shylock expy has some powerful backers so that the party cannot just intimidate or fight him to save the Antonio expy's life.
If you want a more traditional D&D quest, I suggest looking into the TV series "Gargoyles." There is are a few very well done story arcs involving a re-imagined MacBeth, some soul-binding fae creatures, and a contest involving the role of "Oberon's children" on the mortal realm between the forces of Oberon and those of Titania.

A Midsomer Night’s Dream was basically a trip to the Faewild.

A party might find it interesting to be playing in a town while the plot of Hamlet was playing out among the leaders.
Cum catapultae proscriptae erunt tum soli proscript catapultas habebunt
Kinda like a Rosencrantz and Guildenstern kinda thing!

Being caught up in the King making political intrigue of a certain unnamed Scottish play might be fun for a social/RP heavy game.

Overall, I think campaigns based on masterworks is an excellent idea!
I wouldn't carbon copy them - and of course the Players will refuse to follow the script ;)
Even if Players recognize the play it is based on, events are likely enough to go a different path.
I would also look at other works which are inspired by Shakespeare. A lot of Akira Kurosawa's movies could be gold mines, as well.

I totally agree about Don Pedro
Like Kurosawa’s movie Ran
Well, that would track, since Ran is essentially a re-telling of King Lear :)
