Basically what the title says, what would be the best background for a life cleric gameplay wise. As in, what background would be the most useful in game. As always thanks for your help.

There's no best. Any one you choose will have some things that will make it occasionally perfect and others that will make it occasionally useless. Just pick the one that's most interesting for you as a player and best fits your character's backstory.
And if you really, really want opinions, you'll need to give more information. What's your species? Where is the campaign set? Is it a more combat or roleplay focused game? Do you have any restrictions, either from the DM or from you not liking some options? There's just too many variables to be able to give an answer.
I mean, the shelter options are for when you’re in a settled area, as a rule, and so you’re not likely to be looking to Tiny Hut as an alternative unless you’re really trying to pinch pennies in the campaign. Honestly background-to-class interplay is minimal to non-existent, particularly as whether or not your DM will incorporate the background feature into the campaign is highly variable. As has been said, it’s mostly based on what kind of backstory you want for your character.
For the most part, newer Backgrounds generally include a feat instead of just giving you a background feature. The first one that comes to mind is the Rune Carver background, which gives you the Rune Shaper feat, which lets you learn a decent variety of first level spells that you can cast both with spell slots or free once per long rest. One of the spells it can give you is Goodberry, which comboes with your Disciple of Life feature, so now any Goodberries you produce heal for 4 HP instead of 1... outside of combat, that's 40hp you can recover with a single 1st level spell slot... or once free per day. The feat also lets you learn more spells over time as your proficiency bonus goes up.
Look at the Strixhaven options which come with Strixhaven intiiate (maybe lorehold, especially if you can take the Strixhaven mascot feat later and have the statue make skills checks for you).
One of the Spelljammer backgrounds comes with magic initiate feat (cleric) and the other with the tough feat.

Either:
Azorius Functionary (Ravnica) - to get access to Counterspell
or
Quandrix Student (Strixhaven) - to get access to Shield, Haste, Vortex Warp

Species is Vhuman, fey touched feat and the campaign is very combat focused with a homebrew setting. No restrictions aside from homebrew.

That seems to be UA sneaking into published work, since as of UA every background gives a feat.
It’s part of the phase into R5e next year.

Food, Scifi/fantasy, anime, DND 5E and OSR geek.
Depends. I’d go noble or folk hero because it makes sense for a healer.
DM: “Who’s your patron?”
Warlock: “Ummm”
DM: “Hurry Up”
Warlock: “yOu”

The best Background is one that fit your backstory well. My last was a former field medic Soldier with a healer specialty.
