Hello. I have been playing only a few sessions of D&D so far with few friends. But when i tried to recreate the character i have on paper in to D&D Beyond i can't seem to make it the same.
My character is a Female Dragonborn Barbarian current lvl 3. Some things that is avalible in the Players handbook (5e) doesn't seem to exist in the digital version for example. The primal path i have choosen to take is 'path of the totem warrior' but in the digital version i can only choose 'path of the berserker'. Also the background i have choosed is 'Outlander' but that can't be found either..
Please help me if i have missed something or why can't this be found when they are in the players handbook.
Only the sublclasses, subraces, feats, backgrounds and spells found in the Basic Rules & SRD, or the Elemental Evil Players’ Companion are available for free on DDB because those are the ones that the game’s publisher (WotC) published for free. To gain access to the rest of the PHB on this website those additional features must be purchased through this website. You can either purchase the “Full Version” of the PHB itself, or just the subclass and background that you want. Any purchases that you make piecemeal will count as credit toward the purchase of the whole book if you later decide to do that.
There is a difference between free content and not-free content.
Free content, that is to say content Wizards of the Coast released for free, can be used straight away on D&D Beyond. This would be things like Basic Rules, the SRD, Elemental Evil Players Companion, some adventures like 'Frozen Sick' and playtest content like the Unearthed Arcana stuff. The Player's Handbook contains stuff that is not free.
Everything else requires purchase. Since D&D Beyond is a separate company from Wizards of the Coast (WotC) to provide you access to the not-free stuff they have to pay licensing to WotC. It doesn't matter if you have the physical books or not. So if you want to easily use not-free content on D&D Beyond you have to buy it on here to unlock it. You can buy the whole book or just the individual options you want. You can make these purchases by clicking Marketplace at top then Store.
If you do have access from other sources like a physical book, you can use the Homebrew Tools on here to recreate the options for your own personal use, for free. So you don't have to pay again if you don't want to, it'll just require some time and effort.

Sorry about that. Like the others said, not all content is free, only some of it is, which is the stuff in the basic rules. The other things you need to buy on the marketplace.

As long as it's not an insult you can call me what you like. I just need to know you mean me. You can use Cyber if that's easier. ^_^

Of course this depends on your age, but some school clubs are supported by WotC and have all the content on dndbeyond for free, so you could see about that if you think that it's a possibility.

Wait what? DNDBeyond isn't even owned by WotC...
Nope. They are owned by Curse, which is owned by Fandom. This website is more like an online bookstore that only sells digital D&D books. And they made all of these additional tools like the character builder for us to use for free with the materials we purchase.
