This 2-foot-diameter black sphere is a hole in the multiverse, hovering in space and stabilized by a magical field surrounding it.
The sphere obliterates all matter it passes through and all matter that passes through it. Artifacts are the exception. Unless an artifact is susceptible to damage from a sphere of annihilation, it passes through the sphere unscathed. Anything else that touches the sphere but isn't wholly engulfed and obliterated by it takes 4d10 force damage.
The sphere is stationary until someone controls it. If you are within 60 feet of an uncontrolled sphere, you can use an action to make a DC 25 Intelligence (Arcana) check. On a success, the sphere levitates in one direction of your choice, up to a number of feet equal to 5 Ă— your Intelligence modifier (minimum 5 feet). On a failure, the sphere moves 10 feet toward you. A creature whose space the sphere enters must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or be touched by it, taking 4d10 force damage.
If you attempt to control a sphere that is under another creature's control, you make an Intelligence (Arcana) check contested by the other creature's Intelligence (Arcana) check. The winner of the contest gains control of the sphere and can levitate it as normal.
If the sphere comes into contact with a planar portal, such as that created by the gate spell, or an extradimensional space, such as that within a portable hole, the GM determines randomly what happens, using the following table.
d100 | Result |
---|---|
01-50 | The sphere is destroyed. |
51-85 | The sphere moves through the portal or into the extradimensional space. |
86-00 | A spatial rift sends each creature and object within 180 feet of the sphere, including the sphere, to a random plane of existence. |
Notes: Damage: Force, Damage, Control, Combat
Do they move with vehicles, or are they stationary in spacetime unless moved?
What happens if it is in contact with an Antimagic field
It's SO POWERFUL!
Dumb question but Is it considered a magical item? A non magical item? Or not an item at all, because it’s made of nothing
im not sure if u misspelled it or if I don't know what it is here
/\ up there
@Alburan- Antimagic field says, "Creatures and Objects. A creature or object summoned or created by magic temporarily winks out of existence in the sphere. Such a creature instantly reappears once the space the creature occupied is no longer within the sphere." I would just call it an object created by magic, because it makes the most sense.
So just reading this am I’m sorry if it’s dumb but it’s instant destruction for anything except living things in which they can take force damage? Does that mean their items and gear gets destroyed?
Can you put one in a bag of holding? Or will this destroy the universe?
It destroys whatever is within the circle. So if it was to go through a door it would leave a 2 foot hole, not destroying the whole door. Likewise if it touches a living thing it destroys whatever part of the creature leaving behind the wound. The creature can usually dodge this sphere enough to avoid dying but the damage they do take is force damage.
The sphere obliterates all matter it passes through and all matter that passes through it.
Anything else that touches the sphere but isn't wholly engulfed and obliterated by it takes 4d10 force damage.
It destroys anything it touches. it wouldn't entirely engulf most creatures, leaving giant hole, hence the force damage. Yes this would probably destroy any parts of the gear it contacts, leaving holes in it and such.
THX!
If a sphere of annihilation fell from outer space and hit Toril, what would it's impact radius be, if it had one at all?
I'd feel the sphere would leave a nice hole to where ever it would end up.
Perhaps it slowly is destroying the world from the inside (assuming the world is a sphere).
Perhaps it's sitting underground waiting to be discovered.
Or perhaps it cut cleanly through and left a tunnel that other things have begun to inhabit.
He hongri
so it's basically, it's a black hole in a jar.
Exept it just ate it's jar
I would rule that an antimagic field would temporarily dismiss the magical stabilization, but not its contents. And just roll like you’re putting it in a bag of holding. 51-85 it just stays in the air.
Does the sphere require an INT check every round to control it? Or is an INT check only needed initially, then you have control and can move the sphere freely each turn. And a new check would happen if someone contested you for control.
It doesn'thave mass so it can't fall it stays stationary
