Armor (any medium or heavy, except hide armor), uncommon
This suit of armor is reinforced with adamantine, one of the hardest substances in existence. While you’re wearing it, any Critical Hit against you becomes a normal hit.
Applicable Armor:
Name | Type | AC | Strength | Stealth |
---|---|---|---|---|
Chain Shirt | Medium | 13 + Dex modifier (max 2) | -- | -- |
Scale Mail | Medium | 14 + Dex modifier (max 2) | -- | Disadvantage |
Breastplate | Medium | 14+ Dex modifier (max 2) | -- | -- |
Half Plate | Medium | 15+ Dex modifier (max 2) | -- | Disadvantage |
Ring Mail | Heavy | 14 | -- | Disadvantage |
Chain Mail | Heavy | 16 | Strength 13 | Disadvantage |
Splint | Heavy | 17 | Strength 15 | Disadvantage |
Plate | Heavy | 18 | Strength 15 | Disadvantage |
Notes: Immunity: Critical Hits, Combat, Warding
1 goede avond mijn waardige dnd lotgenoten
i'm still staaaanding
if i have an ac of 30 with the armor on do i not get hit because of the adamantine effect to negate the crit so will it miss even if is a nat 20
I thought a critical hit always missed an adamantine target completely.
Based on the rules,
Critical Hit
1) If you roll a 20 on the d20 for an attack roll, you score a Critical Hit, and the attack hits regardless of any modifiers or the target’s AC.
2) A Critical Hit lets you roll extra dice for the attack’s damage against the target. Roll all of the attack’s damage dice twice and add them together. Then add any relevant modifiers.
A natural 20 is an automatic hit; in order for adamantine to take effect, a nat 20 hits but resists the critical hit damage (double attack dice) and turns it into a normal hit (normal attack die) .
cool
i think this is prety stongh chat
If say an assasin attacks with a poisoned short sword and the character being attacked has Adamantine Plate mail.
The assassin hits with a Nat 20. Would just the shortsword damage be regular (due to immunity against critical hits) and the poison damage would be a critical as a result of the character taking the poison and not the armour?
Also since adamantine armour isn't resistance to poison, psychic, acid, lightning, fire or cold - this would state this in notes. It is only immune to critical hits.
Thoughts on this as this will help my campaign? It is not my character wearing the armour but I am DM'ing a campaign where someone is wearing the armour. Not wanting to kill them but I also don't want them to think they are god and can run in recklessly.
