Description
A hippogriff is a magical creature possessing the wings and forelimbs of an eagle, the hindquarters of a horse, and a head that combines the features of both animals.
I’m glad the last encounter of the week gave me an opportunity to use these monsters! A.K.A coolthing
I was delighted to find that hippogriffs were a part of the DND universe.
How much would this monster cost as a mount? If we encountered it how hard would it be to tame (I'm a druid).
so you would have to talk to your dm he may treat hippogryphs and gryphons as beasts with their low iq roll befriend animal ability could allow you to pacify it and make it friendly so that you could attempt to tame the monstrosity
You just have to bow.
In a lot of settings, these are the default flying mounts.
why not just have a fighter with you to kill it and you take its egg.
I want this as a mount, either for my wizard or my ranger, both level 5, because my fighter mounted an undead riding horse and instantly befriended it. I wonder where I could tame one...
HARRY: So I make a Wisdom(Animal Handling) check to tame the hippogriff?
HAGRID: No need. Just use a free action to bow.
Of course.
Someone had to make a Boy Who Lived joke.
Probably not a good idea to ride a flying creature with only 19hp, unless you have feather fall.
An NPC my players became attached too has a Hippogriff as a mount. How do i stop the players from cheesing this? I know, says I, I shall make one wing lame so that he can no longer fly. Rolled a random encounter of a broken bridge across a ravine. My players are now debating how heavy a Hippogriff is to see if they can levitate it across...
reread how levitate works, a hippogriff would probably weigh less than a horse
These make excellent mounts/familiar. Takes a bit of luck at first but worth it when they grow up.
I know these guys from harry potter but i had no idea they were in dnd
I have a pet one (as well as a baby displacer beast)
They are livebearers, they dont lay eggs.
Would this be a good counter for a party of 3-4 level 3's
You would probably want 3 or 4 of them

You didn’t read the description did you? Live young, no eggs lol
