Description
Kobolds are craven reptilian humanoids that commonly infest dungeons. They make up for their physical ineptitude with a cleverness for trap making.
I'm creating a short campaign, would it make sense if a group of five kobolds were guarding a bit of treasure in a random cave? we've got 4 level 1 players
Flazzlebubbelph, was the name of a kobold in one of my campaigns their great.
kobold best monster. no competition. they're adorable little lizard bois and i love them.
Thinking of making an NPC kobold girl raised by a halfling rogue who found her as a hatchling(?) Hoping to use her in a "sidekick" role to aid my wife and son in their first small adventure rescuing her dad from goblins.
I am starting my venture into d&d and my kobold is beefy and has aviators a fedora and a tuxedo and he is teal with yellow eyes
Kobold characters are fun.
They have the BEST minis
I made one, Kobold (Playable/Variant) in homebrew for 5e.
I am using this in the first village of my first campaign hope it goes well
I just saw this thing, and went "YES"
I always thought that kobolds if run according to the rules if there are no specific situations including evil dragons would not attack outside of there layer and therefore usually not be suitable for low level groups as the rig there layers full of a crap ton of traps ranging from insects to falling ceilings and murder holes they can pop out of attack and retreat and are too small for others to follow except for maybe small players also with their large colonies they would really be able to take advantage of pack tactics and swarm
You're dead! You're dead! I win! *Splat*
Kobolds are one of the few examples of creatures with less than 10 Constitution without being a CR 0 creature of some sort. The other examples (from the Monster Manual at least) are:
Swarms of Quippers, Gas Spores (though their purpose is to die, so I'm not sure that this is particularly surprising), Winged Kobolds (which are kobolds), Swarms of Ravens, Swarms of Rats, and Pixies.
what are kobolds' favorite shinnies?
My kobold wizard got shanked by another kobold and almost died on the first combat encounter, failed two death saving throws before being saved by our bard. 10/10 first encounter with the kobold monster.
Since Kobolds are basically the byproduct/blood of each True Dragon subspecies at the time of their creation (as a race), that in my headcanon, Kobolds come in all the varieties of True Dragons; Chromatic, Metallic, Gem, Void, etc.
Now i have some Gem Dragon Kobolds & Chromatic Dragon Kobolds characters to make...
Mind if I ask how you were able to select kobold?
How would you rule the monster version of Kobolds Sunlight Sensitivity trait if they are outside during the day but it is "clouded, raining, snowing or something simular.
Are they still in sunlight, since it is during daytime?
I'm tossing around the idea of a nasty adventure for five 7th level characters called "Death by a 1,000 kobolds" in which they will have to deal with ambushes from between 25 and 100 kobolds at a time, with the kobolds making full use of every dirty trick and trap they can come up with. I would augment the experience points, since it seems unfair for a party not to be able to level simply because the enemies' base XP value is low (in my mind, the traps and being attacked by hoardes kind of offsets that). Anyway, I've found that even smaller numbers of kobolds can be nasty opponents, even at higher levels, if they are played intelligently and use terrain and their size to their advantage.
