I once made a portal that endlessly spawned these in an abandoned temple. The PC's opened the door to the room with the portal only to be met by a wall of writhing flesh, which then spilled out into the corridor. They couldn't kill them as quickly as they spawned, so ran for it locking the door behind them. The party have since taken over the temple as a base, but still haven't dealt with their Lemure infestation.
