Shapechanger. The mimic can use its action to polymorph into an object or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Adhesive (Object Form Only). The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 13). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
False Appearance (Object Form Only). While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary object.
Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.
Pseudopod. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage. If the mimic is in object form, the target is subjected to its Adhesive trait.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) acid damage.

Yes, the 4,000 lb card would never make anyone suspicious. 🤨

Mimic turns into dog
Dog is hollow (The mimic hasn't seen the inside of a dog)
False hydra (Homebrew creature) is inside the dog mimic
Mimic turns into tarasque (False hydra still inside)
Tarasque eats person (A mimic's stats don't change but suddenly having those teeth of a tarasque plus the mimic's 17 strength means it will do well)
Half the person goes to the false hydra and half to the mimic
Mimic turns back into a dog
No-one remembers the victim and it just looks like a dog so they will never realise they have a false hydra in town
Have fun with this knowledge
A land octopus. In my homebrew I assume they can mimic most any object they have seen of a similar size, but I also assume, they can wrap around another existing object in a flattened style as another option to disguise themselves. we also had a moment were detact magic was used on a mimic and it registered as an object with bright Orange Transmutation energy and did not detect as a creature. I would not allow Identify to reveal a mimic as a creature but only as a high level artifact of transmutation properties that wold require multiple short rests to attune to...
We... Are venom

Hi goth boy
I had a campein where a mimic transformed into a hyper realistic human statue then joined the party for the entire campein as a sidekick and the party had no idea :D :D :D
I got a pet Mimic ship by Nat 20ing an intimidation check. 🤣 it was low health, and I made sure it knew I could 1hko it with a fireball.
