Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the tarrasque fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. The tarrasque has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Reflective Carapace. Any time the tarrasque is targeted by a magic missile spell, a line spell, or a spell that requires a ranged attack roll, roll a d6. On a 1 to 5, the tarrasque is unaffected. On a 6, the tarrasque is unaffected, and the effect is reflected back at the caster as though it originated from the tarrasque, turning the caster into the target.
Siege Monster. The tarrasque deals double damage to objects and structures.
Multiattack. The tarrasque can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes five attacks: one with its bite, two with its claws, one with its horns, and one with its tail. It can use its Swallow instead of its bite.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 36 (4d12 + 10) piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it is grappled (escape DC 20). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained, and the tarrasque can’t bite another target.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 15ft., one target. Hit: 28 (4d8 + 10) slashing damage.
Horns. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 10ft., one target. Hit: 32 (4d10 + 10) piercing damage.
Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 20ft., one target. Hit: 24 (4d6 + 10) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 20 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Frightful Presence. Each creature of the tarrasque’s choice within 120 feet of it and aware of it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if the tarrasque is within line of sight, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature’s saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the tarrasque’s Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
Swallow. The tarrasque makes one bite attack against a Large or smaller creature it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target takes the bite’s damage, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the tarrasque, and it takes 56 (16d6) acid damage at the start of each of the tarrasque’s turns.
If the tarrasque takes 60 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the tarrasque must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of the tarrasque. If the tarrasque dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 30 feet of movement, exiting prone.
The tarrasque can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The tarrasque regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.
Attack. The tarrasque makes one claw attack or tail attack.
Move. The tarrasque moves up to half its speed.
Chomp (Costs 2 Actions). The tarrasque makes one bite attack or uses its Swallow.
the king of godzilla
Should've had elemental breath lol
How do you pronounce it?
Seems more dangerous than tiamat.....
In fact, I bet if someone had indefinite acid immunity, they could LIVE in this thing!
I forgot to quote with my previous comment. Also this is not my actual face, that is my mom.
Yes it is
Literally by the time that a group *should* encounter this thing there should be atleast two bags of holding throughout the group. Sacrifice someone to put a bag of holding inside of another bag of holding while either standing next to the creature. Or while inside its stomach. Creature won't be "dead" but it'll be thrown into a different plane and the portal closes behind it.
Get it to swallow a clay golem. Clay golem will eventually kill it from the inside out. Can’t deal more than 60 damage a turn, so it’ll never get thrown up, and not only is it immune to acid damage, acid actually heals it.
oH LaWd hE coMInG
ABSOLUTE UUUUUUUUUUNIT!!!
Level one party vs Tarrasque be like.
Barbarian. I grab my greataxe and charge toward the Tarrasque.
DM. Roll to hit.
Barbarian. *Rolls d20* Nat 20! I hit it *Rolls d12* 7 slashing damage
DM.You do no damage whatsoever due to it having resistance to slashing from non magical attacks.
Druid who doesnt know much about the Dryid class .Can I use Wild Shape a level early so I can turn into a Tarrasque and show this boi how combat is done?
DM. A max level Druid can even Wild Shape into a Tarrasque so no.
Bard. I play my flute in an attempt to charm it.
DM. Can't be charmed.
Ranger. Can I make a WIS animal handling check to tame the Tarrasque.
DM. No. The Tarrasque now smites you all and eats you whole.
The party. Crap.
this is an absolute geezer
You need 2-3 casters all with Polymorph, one caster with Fly, and 1 has to have Power Word Kill. Someone casts Fly on the casters and you all spam Polymorph to get rid of LR. If/when Polymorph succeeds Power Word Kill will take this down. I also recommend Synaptic Static.
certain doom if you'r faced against this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Plan: recruit a lot of NPCs who know Enlarge/reduce. Have them cast enlarge/reduce until it is smaller. Cast awaken (preferably with wish)
What if the tarrarasque is just angry because her romantic relationship with a lawful good golden dragon was broken?
:P it was not meant to be . . .
Cringe lol. RIP relationship
what a Sigma Male
Despite Tarrasque's reputation, it's actually fairly underpowered for a CR 30. It can definitely do a heckton of damage if it gets a multiattack off, but that's about the only thing that's intimidating about it.
Reflective Carapace only prevents lines and attack rolls. But the majority of high-damage spells are dex saves, which is its weakest save. All you need is to stack save DC up to 20, and it can never succeed unless it rolls a nat 20, then dump Disintegrate over and over. It can do nothing to stop it once its legendary saves are out.
Ontop of that, it cannot fly and has no ranged attacks, so literally any class with the Fly spell and reliable ranged damage can trivialise the fight. Heck even a pure melee party would have a fairly easy time of it if they are simply able to move more than 50-60 feet a turn, (monks, barbarians or anyone with Haste) it would have to burn legendary actions just to get in range of anyone.
EDIT: It's also not immune to the majority of the most devastating damage types (such as radiant and necrotic), outside of legendary saves and an arguably average-at-best wisdom save, it's also not able to do anything about the most debilitating but very cheap controlling spells like Dissonant Whisper.
All things considered, Tarrasque is pretty much only threatening to a mid-level party with no knowledge of its mechanics. Any high level group with even modest knowledge of Tarrasque's mechanics could easily manipulate its extremely narrow capabilities. It's definitely a terrifying beast to an unprepared party, but to rank it equal to Tiamat is a massive overestimation.
