Water Form. The elemental can enter a hostile creature's space and stop there. It can move through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide without squeezing.
Freeze. If the elemental takes cold damage, it partially freezes; its speed is reduced by 20 feet until the end of its next turn.
Multiattack. The elemental makes two slam attacks.
Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage.
Whelm (Recharge 4–6). Each creature in the elemental's space must make a DC 15 Strength saving throw. On a failure, a target takes 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. If it is Large or smaller, it is also grappled (escape DC 14). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained and unable to breathe unless it can breathe water. If the saving throw is successful, the target is pushed out of the elemental's space.
The elemental can grapple one Large creature or up to two Medium or smaller creatures at one time. At the start of each of the elemental's turns, each target grappled by it takes 13 (2d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage. A creature within 5 feet of the elemental can pull a creature or object out of it by taking an action to make a DC 14 Strength check and succeeding.
ok, crazy question here... if a water elemental enters the space of a vampire, would the vampire then not regenerate health? I guess I'm asking does this count as running water?
just posted this and I see the question right above it, this question needs an answer!
I think it does count
Spot on! While everyone is poison resistant and have darkvision its so damn normal that its more of a handicap if you dont have these traits than having these traits is an advantage. I hope they address this in the next edition
evaporation
Just in case you haven't gotten your question answered in the last year and a half. Monster Manual page 123 first section of elementals. Elemental Nature: Elementals don't need to breathe, eat, or sleep, thanks to their Elemental Nature
I’m literally making water elemental but as a race of course there like not op I’m looking at this and changing some of the stats
I wish it did
Regular fire elementals aren't vulnerable to cold. Some others are, some aren't.
Nope, fire would vaporize the water a bit so it makes sense. It should have resistance but I wouldn't house rule an immunity in.
there's no water damage
can a water elemental be rizzed up?
Its lack of fire interaction is likely due to the two-way argument; would water extinguish fire, or would fire evaporate the water? Both, so it would be neither vulnerable nor resistant. It would however likely be vulnerable to lightning, which is absent on the statblock
Let's say, hypothetically, that you wanted to cook ramen and your water elemental party member happened to be on fire and boiling, what would happen if you threw instant ramen at them?
me as lv2 sorcerer is verry happy thats its not immune to fire
do elementals breath? does a water elemental breath water or air?
WATER DAMAGE??!?!
bro, there is no water damage, otherwise this elemental would be dealing water damage not bludgeoning damage
