Traits

Magic Resistance. The Apiritee has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Limited Telepathy. The Apiritee can magically communicate simple ideas, emotions, and images telepathically with any creature within 100 feet of it that can understand a language.  When doing this, the Apiritee's antennae quiver and buzz as loud as normal speech.

Actions

Thrash. Melee Weapon Attack: +0 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 (1d4 - 2) bludgeoning damage.

Stinger. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 5 (1d4 + 3) piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 11 Constitution saving throw or become poisoned for 1 hour. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the target falls unconscious for the same duration, or until it takes damage or another creature uses an action to shake it awake.

Description

At first glance, an Apiritee looks like a honeybee the size of a housecat, except that they have two or three extra pairs of wings and their eyes are a warm yellow instead of black.  Visually, there is little else different beyond an otherworldly golden sheen to their wings and a hard-to-define "human-ness" about their eyes.

Apiritees are servants of the powerful archfey known as the Harvest Queen.  They are often sent forth from the fey realm to plant more flowers, usually in the wake of some famine, drought, hard winter, or other disaster, to try and coax normal bees to return to and thrive in the area.  Many a recovering village has wondered at the sight of beautiful fields of flowers that seem to come forth overnight after some tragedy, and know that the Harvest Queen has deigned to watch over them.  They are also employed singly as messengers or in large swarms to protect normal bees that are threatened by unnatural dangers.  Sometimes, they are sent to be companions to Warlocks who have made their pact with the Harvest Queen.

Apiritees are brave in the face of danger, considering their lives to be forfeit to the cause of their queen.  This often comes with a sarcastic and fatalistic sense of humor, but also with an unrivaled sense of devoted loyalty to those they call friends.  They are also known as Beachamors, Maylisses, and sometimes Field Dressers after their usual flower-planting activities.

Special: Warlocks who choose the Harvest Queen as their patron and Pact of the Chain may choose an Apiritee as a familiar.  Dungeon Masters may also allow this for a Warlock bound to a celestial being focused on nature or the harvest that would be friendly with the Harvest Queen.
