Deaf. Akatas cannot hear. They are immune to spells and effects that rely on hearing to function, but the Takata automatically fails any ability checks for hearing. This immunity does not apply to thunder damage.
Keen Smell. The akata has advantage on wisdom (perception) checks that rely on smell.
Salt Water Vulnerability. A splash of saltwater deals 1d6 points of acid damage to an akata, if an akata is fully submerged under saltwater it takes 14(4d6) acid damage.
Void Death. If a creature contracts this disease they reduce their constitution by 2 each day, If this brings a creature to 0 constitution the creature dies and rises 1 hour later as a void zombie. A creature must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw against the disease every 24 hours. The disease is cured on a success. The reduction to the target's Constitution lasts until the disease is cured. This disease is not stackable
Multiattack. The akata makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its tentacles.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d8 + 1) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or contract Void Death, explained above. On a success, the creature is immune to this disease for 24 hours.
Tentacle. MeleeWeapon Attack: +3 to hit, range 5 ft., one target. Hit: 5 (1d6 + 1) bludgeoning damage.
Description
Akatas hail from a strange, distant planet that long ago succumbed to a cataclysmic end. Countless akatas clung to fragments of the dead planet, entering hibernation and riding these asteroids until they eventually crashed upon a new planet—akatas' cocoons protected them from the impact, and they soon awoke to seek out suitable hosts to spawn their young. Left untended, an akata scourge can quickly grow into a significant threat. A typical akata stands 3-1/2 feet tall and weighs 400 pounds.
Akatas can enter a state of hibernation for an indefinite period of time when food is scarce. When an akata wishes to enter hibernation, it seeks out a den and surrounds itself in a layer of fibrous material excreted from its mouth—these fibers quickly harden into a dense, almost metallic cocoon. While hibernating, an akata does not need to drink or eat. The cocoon has hardness 10 and 60 hit points, and is immune to fire and bludgeoning (including falling) damage. As long as the cocoon remains intact, the akata within remains unharmed. The akata remains in a state of hibernation until it senses another living creature within 10 feet or is exposed to extreme heat, at which point it claws its way to freedom in one minute as its cocoon degrades to fragments of strange metal.
