Aggressive. As a bonus action, the orc can move up to its speed toward a hostile creature that it can see.
Reckless Attack. When the orc makes its first attack on a turn, it can decide to attack recklessly. Doing so gives it advantage on melee weapon attack rolls using Strength during this turn, but attack rolls against it have advantage until it's next turn.
Multiattack. The orc makes two melee attacks. Alternatively, it can make two ranged attacks with its javelins.
Battleaxe. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) slashing damage.
Javelin. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 30/120 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage.
Description
Orcs are savage humanoids with stooped postures, piggish faces, and prominent teeth that resemble tusks. They gather in tribes to worship dark gods and go raiding and warring in those gods names. These creatures are incredibly aggressive and nearby civilized settlements tremble in fear on news of orcs gathering in numbers.
Orcs often ride into battle mounted on worgs or dire wolves. Their tactic is to charge into the front lines and then dismount forming a potent fighting pair.

Posted May 25, 2020If you are wondering why I created some slightly tweaked versions of standard humanoid baddies it is in order to fix a few things in their original stats that came out in my own campaigns. First, their CRs are a little wonky and don't follow the workshop advice in the DMG and second, most of the goblinoids provide far more treasure then I think was intended.
The original MM orc is a bit of a paper tiger. They hit super hard with the greataxe but with only a AC of 13 an orc was really easy to hit. I added a few abilities to make them more interesting and different from the goblinoids. First, I gave them the barbarian reckless attack feature to reflect their savage natures. Next, they got a shield for a better AC while using their reckless attack. Then I swapped out the greataxe for a battleaxe to drop their damage a bit. This pushed their CR up so I decided to roll with it and added the multiattack to make my orc a true CR 1 threat.
