Posted Feb 1, 2019Can someone explain why polar bears can be found in the underdark? That just seems out of place to me, but there might be something about the underdark that I'm unaware of.

Posted Mar 1, 2019I think it has to do with another bear sharing their stats. Some bear found in the Underdark references polar bear for its stat block, if I recall correctly?

Posted Apr 10, 2019Yeah, the Cave Bear is just a polar bear with black fur and darkvision out to 60'. It's listed as a little note under the polar bear in the Monster Manual.

Posted Sep 13, 2019Seconded on adding cold resistance...especially since cave bears share stats/challenge rating but have 60' dark vision.

Posted Sep 23, 2019Or at least "is accustomed to cold environments." But seriously. They can swim in frigid waters without a problem. If that doesn't constitute real-life cold resistance, I don't know what does.

Posted Aug 23, 2020Silly thought but polar bears dig to make their homes. Maybe up north they dug into the underdark and stayed for the food.

Posted Nov 24, 2020I know I'm late to this party but why not just give the Polar Bear cold resistance. I plan on doing that for my game I'm slowly puting together. Just a thought.

Posted Nov 29, 2020With basic level 3 conjure animals this is probably the best thing to summon on land in my opinion.
