UPDATE 8 Nov: We know it has been a long time since we posted here but, the Artificers have been very busy, deep inside the Character Sheet Machine. Without further ado we would like to announce; weight changes when unequipping a container and magical containers that have fixed weights. So now you can load down your Cart full of Fine Clothes, drop that heavy Backpack right before a battle and fill up your Bags of Holding.
UPDATE 6 Aug 00:02GMT: We have recovered all customizations created prior to the containers deployment @15:00 GMT today. Any changes made to those items after the deployment have been reverted to their original status. Any alterations made after the deployment are currently unavailable. We will be working on getting those few back over the next couple of days. Stay tuned and thank you again for your patience.
UPDATE 5 Aug 23:01GMT: We know there is an issue with the customization of items, We are currently working on recovering those customizations. We recommend NOT attempting to correct these issues on your end by deleting and rewriting. Give us a moment to recover your old data. Thank you for your patience.
Greetings Adventurers!
We are so happy to announce that the containers on your character’s inventory now actually HOLD things. You can now add things to your backpack and collapse the list. You can click on the container name to see it's contents and add or remove things. When has organization ever been so fun? So as you all log in to your character for the first time today you will see this functionality.
Please remember this is the first step for us to build out the Shared Inventory for your party and we will eventually be adding currency and weight to each or these containers, meaning you can finally carry an overloaded rucksack and drop it right before combat or have a Bag of Holding’s contents not destroy your weight limit. Oh! And one more thing containers cannot go into containers.
If you have feedback, we want to hear it! The best way to give it to us is through our Inventory Management/Sharing Portal.
All my item renames & customizations are gone which is kind of a pain but this is super exciting! Are we able to create custom containers or turn homebrew items into containers? What sets an item as a container?
Awesome! Love to see it.
As long as they are in different containers we can now have multiple stacks of items! So the Crossbow Bolts in the bolt case can be a different stack than the ones in a backpack. This. Is. Fantastic.
I've created a container (The Chilled Pack of Holding) that is meant to hold a spice box, Cook's Utensils, some pots and service, and then what's basically an extradimensional fridge for food to feed the party with. Will this work with Homebrew items like mine?
Just some feedback on the UI. It took me forever to find the Move button that let me move my items into a container. Also, the hide/show content labels seem very unintuitive. I multiple times clicked on the name of the container, expecting that to open/close but it did nothing. Also it feels like even though they're alphabetical, Equipment should still be first.
Now this is big.
Bag of Holding does not reduce weight at all. What's the point?
This. It took me a few minutes to realize there is a very tiny MOVE button when you click on an item name.
My suggestion is to make the button/dropdown larger. Drag and drop to put an item in a container would be beyond impressive.
This is great. I noticed I can put stuff in a Bag of Holding, too? Would it be too much to ask that the weight of an item put in a Bag of Holding is deducted from how much you're carrying?

I am loving all of this so much. It pleases my little OCD soul so much.
Are other containers like scroll cases n such going to be supported?
I just spent most of an hour turning five tabs on my artificer's "Inventory" page into thirteen tabs. I haven't been this happy in at least two weeks. Even just this Phase 1 rollout is a huge boost to the sorts of games my table likes to play. Thank you very kindly for finally finding time to get to inventory/containers. It's vastly appreciated.
At the moment, you can't turn anything that isn't an official container (backpack, pouch, BoH, elsewise) into a container.
What you can do is add a regular pouch to your character, rename it "Chilled Pack of Holding", override its weight to match whatever the CPoH weighs (or to 0 if you're also carrying the CPoH), and then put the CPoH stuff in that pouch. It'll work until you can make the system respect homebrew container items in the future, which they have said they're working on.
Ah, I see you're an Artificer of excellent organizational practices as well. Love it!
Explorer's Pack has the "Container" tag, but in order to put something in the backpack included in the Explorer's Pack, you've got to add a backpack. It seems we either need the Explorer's Pack activated as a "move to" choice OR make it so the Explorer's Pack, when chosen, becomes a Backpack with the mess kit, tinderbox, etc, already stowed inside of it. As it stands, unless you've got something else listed that is a container, you get "MOVE TO" with no options. If there are no options, it would make it far more intuitive to have a message that there are "no valid options".

Great to hear you are working on containers! I have been bickering about this for weeks in my group :D I'll check out the productboard discussion aswell, but in short, I think simple custom containers (backpack, donkey, home, stash in Falocons Hollow) with a "on the person" switch for weight (when implemented) would be great. This will already allow most interactions, like organising your inventory and bribing your high STR groupmate to carry your gear (like my priest does), even without a shared Group Inventory.
In any case, huge step in the right direction, props to you guys!
100% THIS
I missed this earlier or this wouldn’t be a problem. Before I was mildly annoyed, now I’m irritated. I just spent an altogether obscenely long time fixing stuff on a handful of my VIP sheets, even took the opportunity to upgrade things. Had it 😘🤌 perfect. And now it’s half outta wack one way, half outta wack the other, and screwey to boot. I don’t think I’ve permanently lost anything but the time. Would’ja kindly just stop already?!? I just lost half a day!! Ya did the thing, Huzzah! Now please cop a squat and stop marshin’ my mellow already. Purty please. 🙏 With sugar on top. Ya?
