Spelljammer
D&D Direct kicked off with an out-of-this-world announcement: Spelljammer is confirmed! (For real this time!)
Coming August 16, Spelljammer: Adventures in Space is a collection of books that allow Dungeon Masters and players to explore Wildspace and the Astral Sea. Combining themes of nautical exploration with deep space, Spelljammer brings the wonder of science fiction to fifth edition Dungeons and Dragons!
Available now for preorder on D&D Beyond, the three-book collection includes:
- Astral Adventurer's Guide: Contains everything players and Dungeon Masters need to set sail in Wildspace. It includes setting information, six new playable races (astral elf, autognome, giff, hadozee, plasmoid, and thri-kreen), and more!
- Boo's Astral Menagerie: Introduces new monsters, like space clowns, giant space hamsters, solar dragons, and much more.
- Light of Xaryxis: An adventure set in Wildspace and the Astral Sea full of twists and turns leading to an epic conclusion!
If you preorder during our Spring Sale, you can get 20% off your purchase! And if you can't wait until August to play, don’t fret. In July, you can expect Spelljammer Academy, a prequel adventure available at no cost to anyone with a D&D Beyond account or Wizards account.
Wizkids announces line of Spelljammer miniatures
What's an adventure in Wildspace without a ship or a crew … or monsters? This summer, Wizkids is dropping a line of Icons of the Realms figures to complement the release of Spelljammer. Among them, you’ll discover figures for new Spelljammer races, NPCs, and monsters—even the gargantuan astral dreadnought.
Baldur’s Gate 3
Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in early access since 2020, and Larian Studios—creators of the hit RPG Divinity Original Sin 2—offered a glimpse of the massive updates the game has seen since then. Among them are new playable classes, upgraded visuals, the addition of thrown weapons (and the ability to throw other creatures), and more.
The game is expected to release in 2023, but you can join early access today by visiting the official Baldur’s Gate 3 website.
Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel
Co-lead designers Ajit George and Wes Schneider gave us a taste of Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel. First announced in March 2022, this anthology of 13 adventures introduces new locations to D&D. The adventures were written by a diverse crew of writers and reflect real-world cultures and mythologies. Each adventure is tied to a city in the Ethereal Plane known as the Radiant Citadel, which acts as a hub the party can use to head out on their journeys.
The adventures in this book span from 1st to 14th level and can be run as one-shots, injected into your existing campaign, or woven together into its own campaign. You’ll also face new monsters, like the terrifying whistler, a creature native to the Far Realm. The book releases July 19. If you want to learn more, check out our Journeys Through the Radiant Citadel announcement.
Campaign Cases
Available this July, the Campaign Case: Creatures and Campaign Case: Terrain are two portable collections of reusable, peel-and-stick components that will easily level up your in-person games.
Campaign Case: Creatures contains 64 creature tokens that can be customized with the artwork of 159 different creatures. Did you prepare an encounter with a unicorn but decide at the last moment to throw a troll at your players instead? The peel-and-stick system makes it easy to switch out your tokens on the fly! You can reuse monsters, so you’ll always have that perfect creature token at the ready to drop onto the table.
Campaign Case: Terrain has everything you need to immerse your players in your campaign’s world. It comes with 30 customizable terrains and reusable cling depicting objects like a campfire. Now, your players can set up camp (and get ambushed) anywhere!
Each edition of the Campaign Case comes in a portable case that neatly organizes all of the pieces and allows you to take your tools on the go!
The Dungeons & Dragons movie
Filmmakers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein announced that Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will hit theaters March 3, 2023. It was also announced that the movie will take place in the Sword Coast region of the Forgotten Realms, which means we may see some familiar faces from published adventures set in D&D’s most iconic landscape.
Dragons of Stormwreck Isle starter set
Invite new players and Dungeon Masters to the table with Dragons of Stormwreck Isle, a brand-new starter set for D&D! It is designed to introduce new players to the basics of D&D and includes digital onboarding tools as well as a more streamlined design.
Dragons of Stormwreck Isle will be released in 2022.
Monstrous Compendium Volume 1
Your D&D Beyond account just got an upgrade. To help celebrate D&D Direct, Wizards of the Coast has released Monstrous Compendium Volume One: Spelljammer Creatures.
This collection of 10 monsters is available to anyone with a D&D Beyond or Wizards account and includes 5 new and 5 returning classic monsters that you won’t find in the Spelljammer: Adventures in Space set.
Face down the eldritch lich, a spellcaster who’s cheated death by binding themselves to a parasite from the Far Realm. Dodge Gargantuan asteroid spiders as you traverse through Wildspace and maybe befriend a life-sustaining gadabout.
Collect more volumes of Monstrous Compendium throughout the year to build your own extraplanar menagerie!

Agreed it's wierd, especially since they included Italian. I'm going with a WotC exec thinking "Brazilian Portuguese is Portuguese is Spanish-y, so you're like 99% covered."
Spelljammer and Dragonlance.
Maybe the new battle game as well.
Yay! I love free stuff! I wonder how many there will be I am guessing 2 more this year.
Gotta say... the peel and stick Campaign Case sounds pretty cool... and possibly budget friendly. But who can compete with SPAAAAACCCEEE!!!!
Why is it always the dragons with these starter sets?
Spelljammer. Announced 6 new races
astral elves,
Auto gnomes
Hadozee
Plasmoid
Gifts
thri-keen
Having lived in Brasil for a couple of years back in the mid-90s, it seems like Brasilians would love for the chance to do some community-sourced translation work even. A chance to get their names published. At least back then, maybe it's not so anymore, knowing english was a pretty lucrative career in Brasil and I think there would be lots of interest in such a translation approach.
But you're right: a spanish version doesn't cut it. In fact, with the growth of the internet and the popularity of english in Brasil, I'd be surprised if many D&D fans in Brasil didn't take to the english books about as well as to the spanish ones.
The clue is in the name of the game, I reckon.
can confirm, I got MotM in the expanded rules bundle and it does not have any spelljammer races
Expanded rules? Please explain.
Can you confirm anything about the D&D movie yet? Looking forward to it like Volo looks forward to a book signing (is that a saying?)
Yeah, I noticed that, too.
Yeah probably the same like with movies, audio books, digital music and multi platform gaming.
where's the Dungeons AMIRIGHT?! :)
I'm sorry am I the only one stoked to see them using the characters from the cartoon series?!?! Will these be the premades in the starter set? Will they be adding those old-school classes back into the game?!!?
https://dnd.wizards.com/news/expanding-dnd-ptbr
Radiant Cidetal only covers level 1 to 4 - that is somewhat disappointing :(
Assuming you meant 1-14 for Radiant Citadel?
Darksun, anyone? Anyone?
I wanna say that you guys are doing a great work and the future looks bright, but let me ask you something...Will there be a portuguese translation to these books in the future? Not everybody in south america speaks spanish...
