We are excited to announce that D&D Beyond will soon be joining Hasbro as part of the Wizards of the Coast family!
On May 18, 2022 or soon after, your D&D Beyond account will transfer to Wizards of the Coast, at which point (and going forward) the Wizards Terms of Use will apply to your use of D&D Beyond, and the Wizards Privacy Policy will apply to the personal data associated with your account. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Wizards of the Coast LLC will become the “data controller” of your personal data once it transfers.

Frequently asked questions
When will the D&D Beyond Terms of Service be updated?
The Terms of Service will be updated to Wizards of the Coast Terms of Service on or around May 18, 2022.
Why are they being updated?
As part of Wizards of the Coast acquiring D&D Beyond, we will extend the Wizards Terms of Service to cover this new service.
What is changing in them?
We need your permission to put your user content on D&D Beyond and operate the D&D Beyond service, and we’re working to ensure that the scope of the permission you give us is tailored to that goal. The Wizards Terms of Service will therefore be updated with a section specific to D&D Beyond to allow us to host your content and otherwise operate the D&D Beyond service.
Will Wizards own my homebrew content created on D&D Beyond?
Wizards has no intent of taking ownership over user content you put on D&D Beyond, and the Terms of Service will not grant us such rights. The permissions we will need for user content will relate to allowing us to operate the D&D Beyond service, including displaying that content on our site.
Do these changes affect homebrew content that was created before May 18?
Any content that remains on the D&D Beyond service will be subject to the updated Wizards Terms of Service. The updated Terms of Service should not impact how you've used the site or owned your content prior to May 18.
If I delete my D&D Beyond account, will my homebrew content remain on D&D Beyond? If so, will my username still be credited?
While your homebrew content will remain on D&D Beyond, the credited username will change to “user-[number].”
Will Wizards own any character or account information I upload (e.g. character sheets, profile pictures)?
Wizards has no intent of taking ownership over user content you put on D&D Beyond, and the Terms of Service will not grant us such rights. The permissions we will need for that content will relate to allowing us to operate the D&D Beyond service, including displaying that content on our site.
Will I need a Wizards account to access or sign up for D&D Beyond after May 18?
No. You can continue to use your Twitch or Google account or Apple ID to sign into D&D Beyond. New users will still need a Twitch or Google account or Apple ID to sign up for D&D Beyond after May 18.
No, they wouldn't obtain rights to works you don't own because you don't have the rights and even if you had a license to use the material you still do not have the right to grant others the license and in terms of content posted to the community you would have to have a license that allowed you to grant them a license or by the terms and services you can't upload it . Honestly WOT probably don't care about your character or homebrew and honestly is likely more because well there is so much homebrew and stuff that there is a non zero chance they accidently create very similar things, for example I'm sure there was already a slime race in the homebrew section and this means even if you think they might have copied you, you can't sue them. before the purchase the odd are because they didn't own the platform and your homebrew is created within there creative commons license you ether didn't have the copy right before or they could claim ignorance as the platform was unaffiliated.
So basically- the new Terms of Service is specifically there to protect WOTC right to steal what it wants from creators with no repercussions and protects none of our rights to have discretion on how our content is used.
I understand there are a million edge cases here and that FANDOM always had the right to use our characters and homebrew- but at least they are upfront and at least a little bit communicative about the matter.
I don't trust WOTC to not steal what it wants at the detriment of small creators. They shortchange so many brilliant writers and it's just so awful. It doesn't benefit the community in the slightest. I couldn't begin to tell you how disparaged I feel about this change in ownership.
Not at all, this is just normal things that are required to do things like display the content to you, or transfer it from the front-end server to the data server. It even covers things such as the comment you made here.
The big question I saw was, will wizards of the coast pair physical and digital copies i.e. if you already own or purchase later on, a physical copy of wotc rulebooks, will you be able to access digital copies of those rulebooks?
Will we be able to link the hardcopy books to dndbeyound after May 18 or will we still have to buy both the hard copy and the digital content for here?
Maybe there will be a possibility to translate to German as well for my non English fluent people :D
There have been no announcements about free books.
There have been no annoucements about supporting translations of the site and content.
am i finally going to be able to transer phisical books to dnd beyond

Why not movies work that way?
Will the tangible books purchased be linkable to our account. It is frustrating to have to double purchase something to have access to it online. I personally along with many prefer the tangibility of my purchases when it comes to this sort of expenses. I have groups that still prefer old school dnd. It is rude and let plainly be forthright, greedy to have someone by twice the same thing and even more so if a membership is required to obtain full service. I am certain that I am not the only one thinking this.
So basically any homebrew content I create WotC can then market and sell...ya no thanks....see ya on FGU every1 ( Or Questhaven when it launches next year)
will wizards of the coast allow us to put our physical books on DND beyond?
So do we need to make any changes or will our accounts on here automatically migrate to the WotC system?
this is sad for the old characters that are used in campaigns hope we can use them in wotc
exciting! can't wait for bad news
wait means updates my time
I'm more curious if they'll allow those of us who buy their books in hardback form to have a code that lets us have the book on here also. If not I'll be disappointed.
You say that but you already have access to your friends sharing their data with you, so someone like me who owns every non campaign book they've put out has never spent a dime on t his sight yet I still have access to those resources on here. So I see that being no different then what's already going on. Secondly comics have lost some value over time due to being able to get them online and read them, however true collectors will still pay that price for the first Spiderman comic that had the Punisher in it. I appears that you failed your reading check...
