Posted Feb 25, 2026Damn, it looks like I can't buy it from the Marketplace anymore. Do you happen to know if it was bundled with something? Or if I'm just SOL on that dice?

Posted Feb 25, 2026This feature was sprung on our play group las night and was universally loathed - we couldn't figure out how to turn it off, and one player could not see his own dice rolls he had to look at a different screen. 100% fail for me, suggest you play-test it better, and make it opt-in not on by default.

Posted Feb 26, 2026You're kidding right?
This "update" has caused a lot of issues. I've tested this across 19 different characters. Melee characters, ranged characters and spell casters. Low level characters and higher level ones. Rolls with campaign linked characters seemed to be working at the moment in the abovevtt maps, but none of my NON campaigned characters worked on either chrome, or firefox on desktop or on mobile. Something they did broke the coding. My guess since the abovevtt, is working, sort of, is its probably object interaction between character sheet and integration with maybe their site vtt, so if you're not in the dnd beyond vtt its not allowing rolls directly from the character sheet rolls. You can use the custom dice roller in the corner, but neither ability score checks, skill checks, saving throws, to hits, damage rolls, initiatives work on any characters not linked to a campaign. I've also lost two dice sets that I had previously.
I submitted a trouble call but it is hasn't been fixed to date yet.

Posted Feb 26, 2026I think when this was happening it was due to the site outrage. Now when a player rolls from their character screen it properly shows up in DnD Beyond Maps VTT.

Posted Feb 26, 2026When will the dice system be fixed so we can actually use the dice you forced on us? Or can we go back to the old system with the dice sets we paid for?

Posted Feb 26, 2026This, this, and this.
I have only experienced this update in my character sheets thus far, but it's a bad experience. Why is the "DM" in my character sheet when I'm rolling for ability stats? The roll lag is terrible, robbing me of all click clack satisfaction. The dice are obviously not meant to be displayed that large so now they look blurry, clunky, and almost always cocked. Sometimes the dice land on top of the result display and instead of the dice disappearing when I right click like they did previously, the result goes away instead. Also what's the point of custom rolls if the result display only gives the total? I don't want just a total, I want to know what each dice roll was, otherwise rolling multiple (especially when d100s are involved) is useless.

Posted Feb 27, 2026The clumsy and egregiously slow virtual 3d dice are the most annoying feature for me (followed closely by the lack of light theme on the mobile app), and letting others clutter my screen with it is probably the worst idea this site had in a long while now. Is there a global switch to turn it off, so I will never see others’ shared dice?

Posted Feb 27, 2026Could we please have an option to change the size of the dice. They are way to large and cover much of the sheet so you cant see it and plan your next move.
Edit: Also it simple don't work that the dice goes on top of each other. There is no way to see what you roll and it sometimes cover the game log making it even more difficult to se the results. This slow down the game a lot which is a huge issue. DnD should be fun and easy to play.

Posted Feb 27, 2026I would love to have a silent roll option, which generates the numbers without any visual clutter (also known as 3d dice) blocking the interface for half a minute each time… but apparently that’s “too complicated “ to make, probably because you can’t sell skins for it.

Posted Feb 27, 2026There's an off-toggle to do just that.

Posted Feb 27, 2026No, the off toggle fully disables random generation.
what I was talking about is the option to have these numbers generated, but instead of having to watch a too long animation and wait for it to end and all dice disappear before I get the controls back, it would just immediately give me the result and let me click again immediately.
...or at least that's how it worked before for years, and they claimed they can't just show the numbers cause the whole number generator depends on the physical modelling of the dice. But I stand corrected as I checked now and they indeed enabled this; which just proves to me they were outright lying about their reasoning before.

Posted Feb 27, 2026Which is weird because Maps VTT only had the number generation without the dice rolling, but character sheets didn’t have the “off-option” and Maps VTT never had the “on-option” so seems like it works as intended. Of course depending on how many dice are rolled, it could be taxing on your system.

Posted Feb 27, 2026+1 on lots of things breaking.
- yes optimization is SORELY needed. I was good with my RTX video card but everyone on a laptop was melting down.
- Also the math is all kinds is wacky on advantage rolls. Frequently it would ADD the d20s together (most egregiously for initiative
- bonuses getting dropped all over the place (damage rolls--not even consistently--seemed to be the dice creating Math issues)
- many skills did not work with the autoroller in the character sheet. Yes quite a mess.

Posted Feb 27, 2026The Dice are fun, and I like them.
However: one group I play with was playing on a thursday night (I wouldnt expect the servers or DB's hosting D&DB to be overly taxed at that point?) and found that for a few of us it caused highly frustraiting delays betwen clicking roll and then waiting for the roll to be generated - after various fiddling this was only fixed when we all turned off the 3d dice toggle on all open tabs of dnd beyond - which implies this has been released with some fundamental performance issues.
We will be playing with this feature turned off for the forseeable future as a consequence, a big step backwards really - I recommend if you see performance issues you do the same.

Posted Feb 28, 2026In theory lots of fun, but it keeps causing my character sheet to reload nearly every time someone rolls.
