Eight Subclasses Steeped in the Arcane
Arcana Unleashed adds 8 subclasses for spellcasters and martials alike. Draw power from a dying god as a Vestige Patron Warlock, lace every blow with magic as a Warrior of the Mystic Arts Monk, or weave spells into your shots as an Arcane Archer Fighter.
Rounding out the roster are the Arcana Domain Cleric and four Wizard subclases that specialize in particular Schools of Magic—Conjurer, Enchanter, Necromancer, and Transmuter.
SWATCHES STUDIO
Nine Factions and a Society Run on Magic
Arcana Unleashed introduces 9 arcane factions, each with its own leadership, renown rewards, bastion facilities, member benefits, and rivalries. Chart the multiverse with the Conjuration-focused Horizon Weavers, trade in secrets with the Enchantment-focused Bejeweled Conclave, dissect death alongside the Necromancy-focused Covenant of the Grave, or steal dangerous knowledge with the shadowy Ninth Quill.
The book also adds 10 backgrounds, most of which are tied to a faction, so you can shape your character's story by embroiling them in the rivalries and alliances of arcane politics.

20+ feats, including new options across the Origin, Fighting Style, Epic Boon, and General categories
How Will You Manifest Arcane Might?
Whether you're building a spellcaster worthy of legend or leading a party of agents into the heart of Thay, Arcana Unleashed hands you a world where magic is yours to weave into whatever story you want to tell.
Will you build a rich world of warring magical factions? Explore ancient civilizations that collapsed under their own arcane might? Or introduce new and confounding magic to a world that hasn't seen its kind before? The choice is yours!
The thing I'm most interested in is the feats, especially since Fighting Styles are listed and it has me curious as to what these more magic focused fighting styles(at least that's what I assume they'll be) could be.
They were doing so well adding subclasses for Artificer. It's odd it's not here. honestly I think every class should have gotten a magical based subclass. if we are treating this like the 'season of magic.' Sorc, Druid (both which are magical classes) were ignored and so was paladin and ranger. Just feels off.
Evolving magic items reminds me of the old 3.5 Weapons of Legacy book. Hopefully it's something akin to that, including rules on how you can create your own. We need more of those.

They did try out Sorcerer (“Ancestral”) and a Paladin (“Spellguard”) subclasses in the Unearthed Arcana articles that led to this one, but presumably neither received enough approval in the feedback. The Sorcerer had done reasonably well with subclasses (2 since the PHB). The Druid, however, like the Barbarian, has had none. They seem to be going for 7-8 subclasses per new book.
I'm very sad to see the second UA Hexblade was scrapped. I had so much fun taking one to level 14 and really all it needs is a way to generate a more reliable AC.
But I'm glad to see the Vestige Patron and Arcane Archer, since I'm starting a new campaign in September and two of my players wanted to play these :)
Where's the List of Spells, Feats, etc.? "You get new Stuff" - "Can i see if it's worth it?" - "Nuh, you have to buy it first." Sorry but that's a definitive nope from me, i don't buy mystery boxes. Especially for that ridiculous amount of money.
It' s not gonna be dark sun this year has had a real obvious pattern the last two books have mirrored the small dnd books sold with heroes of the faerun . 1st one was astarion book of hungers and ravenloft mirrored that. the 2nd was netheril's fall and this one seems to mirror that so the next book will be a magic the gathering cross over to mirror the lorwyn book from last year . So either they are breaking the pattern or it isnt coming this year
While im interested in this book, im still waiting for the Xanthar Guide equivalent for 5.5e. I want a book that has at least 2-3 subclass options for each class, kinda sad we havent gotten that yet!

Possibly, but we haven’t had any Unearthed Arcana articles that would seem to fit with a Lorwyn or other MtG setting, whereas we’ve had three Dark Sun compatible UAs (Psion, Apocalyptic Sublasses and the Psion update).
I just saw the announcement for Arcana Unleashed and Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall, and they look absolutely amazing. As a huge fan of the Forgotten Realms, having Alustriel Silverhand and Szass Tam in the spotlight is exactly my kind of thing.
I’m really hoping to get some info on whether both books will get an official translation into German and other languages.
My group and I love supporting Wizards of the Coast financially, but there’s a bit of a catch. While I’m fine reading the English books, a lot of my players and especially younger beginners who are new to the hobby really struggle with the language barrier. Having the rules only in English makes it super hard for them to get into the game.
If we can get a confirmation that a German version is on the way, I’m 100% down to buy the English digital copy for myself right now and then grab a physical German book for my players to use at the table.
Localization makes such a huge difference for accessibility, especially for the newer folks.
These are just updated versions of the subclasses from the 2014 phb that didn’t make the cut in the 2024 phb. If this book focused on divine magic and the gods the cut clerics would be here instead
