The book adds 6 new subclasses: the Oath of the Ebon Blade and Oath of the Holy Paladin, the Demon Hunter Ranger, the Shadow Domain and Discipline Domain Cleric, and the Path of the Elements Barbarian. Rounding out the roster are 3 updated subclasses (Swashbuckler Rogue, Path of the Spiritual Guardian Barbarian, and Warrior of Mystic Brews Monk). |

Posted Jul 31, 2026After all these years, D&D finally is like World of Warcraft. The Grognards back in the 4th Edition days were just ahead of their time with their complaints.

Posted Jul 31, 2026Is it weird to say I am shocked there isn't a Warlock subclass? Idk with the whole Legion faction and Fel magic, it just kinda feels like there should be some kinda idea you can work with. Especially when iconic villains like Gul'dan and Cho'gal ARE warlocks. Like I will put my hands in the air and admit to not knowing everything about wow lore since my exposure to it is via secondary stuff like Hearthstone and HoTS, so if nothing unique could be done that isn't already offered by an official warlock subclass then I'll admit to being wrong and step aside.

Posted Jul 31, 2026This has always been a trend, they are just leaning more heavily into it. It used to be like 3 races and 2-3 subclasses in a setting book now its a decent bit more. This makes the book more enticing to people who don't care as much about the setting but want the new spells, feats, subclasses and magical items.

Posted Jul 31, 2026Based on Ravenloft they will be allowed into AL and I highly doubt that they will be rolled into a separate book.

Posted Jul 31, 2026It is a odd exemption, but my guess is demonology will be conjurer wizard or devil pact warlock, affliction could be a old one warlock. My guess is most of the spell casters will have spells added to make them feel like their class.
I am just looking forward to just taking the new species monsters items spells feats and subclasses for my games.
