The public beta for digital dice launched yesterday on D&D Beyond, and thousands of fans have already rolled millions of times to see that first "20" land on their screens.
The D&D Beyond team has taken the task seriously of helping people across the world play games and connect with one another during the unprecedented times of this pandemic. Knowing that we can bring even the smallest amount of joy in the midst our global situation provides a real sense of purpose, and we appreciate the reports of happiness brought about by these pixels bouncing across your character sheets more than you know.
Starting today, you will be able to unlock new dice sets for your collection, including the colorful 'Pigment Pack' and a fully-animated 'Mythic Set.' You can check out both in the Marketplace. There will be plenty more where they came from in the days ahead.
We are also acutely aware of recent events that call into stark focus the systemic racial injustice that continues to exist in the world. We understand that messaging from companies often lands hollow without action, and we do not wish to remain silent in the face of this. For the next week (through June 9th), D&D Beyond will donate 50% of all proceeds from digital dice sets to the Black Lives Matter movement.
We stand in solidarity with the Black community against racism, discrimination, and senseless acts of violence.
My wish as well. They (games) provide a break from reality.
to be completely honest with you all i have been kind of confused with everything going on over in America. the police are shooting rubber bullets at anyone they see outside their homes including peaceful protesters and children but some of the protesters are looting and attacking innocent people and shops and they've been burning buildings, i just don't get it.
Yes!
Look up George Floyd, and that should explain most of this.
Cringe
This is amazing
absolutely,
i have been in other sites where this would have been taken down immediately plus this this would have turned into a yell fest
These dice look amazing! Truly, they are great dice for a great cause.
This is awesome 👏🏾 Thank you for supporting the cause!
First I want to commend DDB for taking a stance on a contentious issue that will, undoubtedly, see a section of the community spew hatred in your direction. Arguably, those people leaving aren't a loss to the community, but DDB is a company and so it will be a loss to the bottom end no matter how the dice fall. That's not an easy thing for a company to do but it was the right thing for DDB to do. That deserves recognition.
Secondly, because I'm me, I have to point out that... it could've been 'all proceeds' up to the stated date and so the other 'half' that are costs are essentially a matched donation but I guess nobody is perfect :)
Any section of the community that leaves over this is a ultimately a blessing to the community as a whole.
Absolutely love this! #BLM
absolutely
I agree wholeheartedly.
Well done, DDB!
Sure black lives matter, of course, but the issue I have with it is that all other races matter too. I live here in MN with the riots around me. Shame on those vandalizing stores and homes, even burning down structures here and hurting people, all the while spouting black lives matter while we lock our doors and pray our home stays safe through the night for our new born. Wait until we have all the facts, and even then, keep ther protests peaceful; justice will be done when all facts are gathered.
If peaceful protests worked in this circumstance, this problem would've been fixed a long time ago. I'm not advocating for violence or rioting, but can you blame them after the 200+ years of crap that we've put them through, and they're still being killed and brutalized by police.
Bingo!
I love this!
