D&D Beyond is excited to announce the release of the all-new, consolidated D&D Beyond App! Gone are the days of two separate apps: we’ve combined the power of the D&D Beyond toolset with new mobile features to make your Dungeons & Dragons 5th-edition games more accessible and more fun. The app is available to download for free on iOS and Android.
The toolset makes it easier to reference D&D content, with features ranging from a guided character creation, dynamic character sheets and spell management, plus the ability to search and bookmark books in your library. The app is the perfect mobile solution for every D&D player — whether you’re a new player, a veteran campaigner, or legendary Dungeon Master.
Play with Advantage
Mobile character creation is easier with the character builder tool walking you through every step of the character creation process. You’ll never have to enter a game without your character sheet again — access your characters online or offline and be ready for skill checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or whatever twists your DM throws at you. Manage your character's health, abilities, spells, and inventory.
Forgot your dice? Roll directly in the app with themed digital dice sets!
Dungeon Masters will enjoy the ability to easily access monster stat blocks and game rules in the D&D Beyond App. Bookmark your favorite monsters or frequently used rules, search spells, and gaze longingly over your backlog of characters you'd love to play (some day, maybe...).
What if I already own the Player App or Reader App?
Adventurers who have the D&D Beyond Player App will simply need to update the app to access the new tools! If you are using the D&D Beyond Reader App, you'll need to migrate over to the new app.
The search feature within a sourcebook is not working properly for me (tested on both my phone and tablet)... it lets you search, but there's no text bar showing what you're typing. (It was in the top bar of the old reader app).
Also, if you're going to consolidate into one program, have an easy way to switch between a character and the library... right now if you're in your character, you have to back out to the character list first to get the navigation bar at the bottom to get to the library.
I only own five compendiums but none of them shows up
I think you have to download them in your phone, as it shows on the LIBRARY section (( at the bottom ))
I figured out the issue. Had to disable dice and close the app, then re-enable them and delete/re-download them, then they all work. \o/
Quick question, if I delete the old reader app, does it automatically delete all downloaded content? I don’t want to lose device space. Thanks!
I've purchased a lot of content on DnDBeyond.
The books I've purchased have transitioned to the new app just fine.
But I only purchased the Monster Bundle portion of the Monster Manual, and it looks like my data hasn't made the move.
Anyone else having similar issues?
This is what we've been waiting for! And it looks amazing too, thank you! So far I like it!
Now that all of the sources are on the same app will we ever get the ability to actually manage spells, character creation/editing solely on the app, and offline?
This article is misleading. It says that now we can manage spells in the app, which we could do before, but in the same way as before. We have to view it on the website and edit it from there.
Same thing applies to creation and level up.
There are also features that can be changed on a short/long rest but have to be changed in the character edit, also only available through the website.
Lastly, artificer infusions. You cannot change or set your infused items in the app solely, you also have to do it from the page on the website.
Being able to open the web browser in the app is NOT “managing from the app”.
It’s managing it from the WEBSITE which can be ACCESSED from the app.
Yup. But as this is the way they are going they need to give it a 'tabbed' interface like Chrome or Safari, which might provide a usable experience for those of us who need to flit between the services on offer here.
Yeah, I did check that section but the only downloadable book is the basic rules.
no sign of my 5 compendium only books.
thanks
That's not the problem. Many of my purchases are there just fine, ready to be downloaded. The problems are with the ones I've already purchased, that aren't available for download, but instead demand that I purchase them again.
I don't seem to be the only one, so I'm going to assume it's being worked on.
Edit: working now. Downloading happily.
I opened a support ticket around 24 hours ago but no answer yet
Does anyone have ANY idea how to manage existing characters' inventories on the app?? I can't figure it out for the life of me... was really looking forward to the app update so I wouldn't have to be in my browser. :(
How did you make it work in the end?
do you have compendiums only or full books?
So, one little problem I've encountered with the app, there is no option to store downloaded library files to my external storage (ie sd card). Not all of us have enough internal storage for our entire collection on a tablet.
I use OS for most of my GM work. Can I not use OS to edit character sheets?
So is there any reason to keep the D&D Beyond Reader app?
You might want to give users the option of downloading books to their devices expanded storage like the Reader App did. As is the App dumps all downloaded books onto a device's System Memory which can be a massive data hog.
Would have been better to do it the other way around, renaming the data-heavy app & having us download our characters again.
I still find it mildly annoying that you can't edit characters in the app yet. I find I do that a lot more than actually build characters from scratch. I assume it's already on the list of things to do and update, but I think it should be fairly high in priority.
