Homebrew Andolan Elf Species Details

The modern elf evolved among the frozen lands north of Quantal and for centuries, had not encountered the species of continents. In the Origin Era, it is believed that they were experimented on for their unusual mental abilities that other people did not possess. Elven lives were lived in cages and laboratories until the Origin vanished, or so the elves say.

They migrated to the continents a few thousand years after humans and dwarves settled Quantal and before those cultures spread to the lands of Almasaari and beyond. The first encounters between elves and the people of the mainland were peaceful, the elves having a talent for diplomacy and 'seeing' the truth behind most things. They helped build the first Quantal cities along with the dwarves and shared their knowledge of mysticism with the humans.

Today, elves can be found across the world, yet most remain in the northern nations of Quantal, Almasaari, and True Suns. Aside from the under-elves, who have a different tale of their origins. Elves have a genetic ability to visualize strangeness or falseness, something they call 'falsesense'. When something or someone isn't what or who they appear to be, elves can pick up on clues to that fact on the visual spectrum. Not all elves are adept at using this talent, yet those who are serve as high level advisers and authorities in many nations.

Elves grow to about 6-7 feet tall and are thin and graceful. They typically have pale white to slightly golden skin and all have dark intense eyes. Elves live for slightly over a thousand years and only begin to age normally within the last century before their natural death. Most elves appear to be in their 20's to 40's in human standards.

Andolan Elf Traits

As an Elf, you have these special traits.

Falsesense

You can focus on your surroundings, an object, person, or creature to detect if anything has been concealed, unnaturally altered, or deliberately obscured. For instance, this ability may reveal hidden objects or paths, mystical illusions, or indicate if someone is lying or not who they appear to be. However, the sense is imperfect and won't provide exact details, but it will alert you that something requires closer investigation.

When you focus your senses in this way, you may receive subtle hints that deception is at play. No check or roll is required to uncover these insights due to your heightened perception. This ability can be used three times per long rest.

Illusion Savvy

You have Advantage on saving throws and ability checks to discern magical illusions, allowing you to see through them more easily. Additionally, if you are capable of creating illusions through magic, the DC for others to see through your illusions is increased by 2

Keen Senses

You have proficiency in the Perception, Survival, or Investigation skill.

Cold Climate Adaptation

You have resistance to Cold damage and are less affected by freezing climates.

Language: Sylvendra

You can speak, understand, read, and write in the ancient language of Sylvendra, or at least enough to communicate effectively with other Elves.
