As you hold your hands with thumbs touching and fingers spread, a thin sheet of flames shoots forth from your outstretched fingertips. Each creature in a 15-foot cone must make a Dexterity saving throw. A creature takes 3d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
The fire ignites any flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 1st.
Lightning Bolt is closer to that honestly.
Die to he jinn & jinnie background . Magixs just happens to come at the right time only after her charm and luck karma is on top of d&d
this could also be utilized as a curse when they do get cursed burns anything they touch and has a 20% chance to cause 1d4 burn damage

With Fizban's Treasury book adds a Ice Version of burning hands that adds web like effects.
Though that book also adds the ability to summon dragons which might also entice them away from burning hands.
My dm decided to add the disintegrate rule to burning hands and all other massive fire spells that destroys all loot / items / clues any person killed by my spell had. With that in place I didn't even bother grabbing fireball as that would render adventures a negative gain and would effect our ability to investigate. I now leave burning hands for mooks that are far away from where any potential useful loot might be or to make "Final Examples" of other mages that upset my wizard. (My wizard dislikes being detained so any wizard that cast a spell like web automatically triggers a there will be nothing to bury response)
