Foreknowledge
Your magic and an offering put you in contact with a god or a god's servants. You ask a single question concerning a specific goal, event, or activity to occur within 7 days. The GM offers a truthful reply. The reply might be a short phrase, a cryptic rhyme, or an omen.
The spell doesn't take into account any possible circumstances that might change the outcome, such as the casting of additional spells or the loss or gain of a companion.
If you cast the spell two or more times before finishing your next long rest, there is a cumulative 25 percent chance for each casting after the first that you get a random reading. The GM makes this roll in secret.
* - (incense and a sacrificial offering appropriate to your religion, together worth at least 25 gp, which the spell consumes)
A Divination spell that's called "Divination"? What's next; a Psychic-type Pokemon move called "Psychic"?
How does the spell work exactly ?
Could i ask "Where is the dragon's treasure ?".
Or, as they mention "specific goal, event, or activity to occur within 7 days" should it more be like "Will we find a treasure if we go on treasure Island ?".
GM: You receive a vision of an impossible entity. Seemingly composed of metal, it is twisted and bent in a bizarre fashion, inscrutable to your mortal mind. As it approaches, it begins to unfurl, contorting as in a mimicry of physical gestures. Then, in a voice entirely alien to you, yet perfectly understood, it asks...
"It seems like you're trying to contact an extraplanar entity. Would you like help with that?"
wtf is night domain
the Tasha's Cauldron of Everything expanded spell list gave this to wizards, y'all have any ideas for unique offerings that a wizard without a particular religion could make.
Common Selunite sacrifices include things like milk, wine, silver, moonstone, pearls, blue/silver gems, etc.
Any of these to get to 25 gold would make Moon Mommy happy! :)
Are human sacrifices worth 25 GP?
Some are ;-)
Regarding why a spell, Divination would have the same name as its type, Divination:
I went back to my 1978 AD&D Players Handbook. It’s the same there, Divination (Divination). The author of that tome is the great Gary Gygax who has passed on from this world. To contact him, you’ll need to cast a Divination…
