Charmed
One Humanoid you can see within range makes a Wisdom saving throw. It does so with Advantage if you or your allies are fighting it. On a failed save, the target has the Charmed condition until the spell ends or until you or your allies damage it. The Charmed creature is Friendly to you. When the spell ends, the target knows it was Charmed by you.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. You can target one additional creature for each spell slot level above 1.

Posted Oct 21, 2024This is another spell that logically should be a charisma saving throw not wisdom.
You are trying to influence a persons attitude and their social interactions. This matches the official description of charisma not wisdom.

Posted Oct 24, 2024Not really, you use your wisdom to detect when someone is trying to manipulate you into liking them. Not your charisma.
You could argue the save DC should be calculated based on the caster's charisma but the save should definitely be a wisdom saving throw.

Posted Nov 7, 2024I think Charisma saves are more for preventing actual control than influence.

Posted Jan 28, 2025I think the idea is that you, the caster, are using your charisma to influence them and they are using their wisdom to try to fight off/see through the effects.

Posted Apr 29, 2025It has nothing to do with Charisma, it's trying to magically influence their mind through some degree of mind control. Its an enchantment spell, which is (generally) mind control magic, and has nothing to do with actual spoken/social charisma. Wisdom is the mental save stat to resist such effects.

Posted Aug 5, 2025Incorrect. Only Wisdom can expose the charlatan.

Posted Aug 28, 2026How do you interpret the Charmed condition?
You can’t attack the charmer or target the charmer with (1.) damaging abilities or (2.) magical effects. (as written).
VS
You can’t attack the charmer or target the charmer with (1.) damaging abilities or (2.) DAMAGING magical effects.
These are two very different interpretations. Is hold person damaging, Sleep, Banishment, Polymorph, Dispel Magic... None of these are damaging magical effects. This effectively allows the charmed to neutralize the charmer quite easily themselves with non-damaging spells. Maybe that is the intent of the condition but I have been using the first interpretation for quite a while, you can see how that leads to table "discussions".

Posted Aug 31, 2026A common sense reading of that phrase in English would be that the adjective "damaging" applies to both "abilities" and "magical effects".
