Teleportation
Briefly surrounded by silvery mist, you teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see.
Question: in a game we just had, the player wanted their character to be able to misty step onto a plateau 15 feet away and 10 feet up. Character was 6 feet tall, the ground was 10 feet up. I ruled no since they could not see the ground they were stepping to (line of sight 'n all). They thought yes since they could see the vast majority of it (but not all). What do you think?
I would say that's getting nit picky. Think of it like night crawlers teleportation (I'm talking movies before he tried to stretch himself for fear of teleporting into a wall or something). Ledges are in view imho
it only takes a bonus action, so you can still take the dash action, use this, then dash an extra 60 ft, or get past someone blocking your way. this spell could allow you to move around in a fight, without getting hit if need be, or just getting into a good place to hide. this would be underpowerd, only if it was say a 3rd or 4th level spell, but not for 2nd
It says "an unoccupied space", not a surface, object, creature, or other type of target.
RAW, if they can see a space big enough for them within 30 feet, they can Misty Step to it; even if that space is in midair (in this case, by a few feet).
I have Misty Step from Ranger - Fey Wanderer subclass, and when I view the spell list on my character sheet, Misty Step is listed repeatedly, in blue like the other spells which benefit from being up-cast. I know that any spell can be cast using a higher level slot, but Misty Step is the only spell that doesn't specify up-casting criteria, being listed among my higher level spells (in blue as if it features up-casting benefits)...
Is this a bug in DnDBeyond's listing for Misty Step?
I mean, I'd love to be able to cast Misty Step on two people, or to step farther away, but there's nothing about When you cast this spell at a higher level, in the description.
Feels like a bug. Not terribly annoying, but weird that DnDB is constantly suggesting that I cast Misty Step as a Lvl 3 spell.
This once a day without a spell slot spend or need to speak is considered an Epic Boon to grant a level 20 character.
Any opinions about that?
vcs sabem se ele pode ser usado para desviar de flechas
.
Yes
Do you think you could get out of being grabbled or tied up using misty step?
How may a Eldritch Knight fighter learn this spell?
Can I use this to scale obstacles like a cliff or get down safely from a ledge?
Eldritch knight gets access to 1 spell of any school, at levels 3, 8, 14 and 20. They get access to level 2nd level spells at 7. One spell can be swapped out per level. So at level 7 you can switch that 1 spell from another school, to misty step, or you can wait until level 8, to learn it.
Are you sure about that? Only you teleport up to 30 feet, for one. And for two, contrast this with Thunder Step, a higher-level spell, the other creature has to be willing otherwise bringing them fails.
I'm afraid not. The spell's range is "Self" and as the "Ranged" section of the PHB says in p. 203:
So, no. It would be so cool, though.
You can upcast it, like you can any (non-cantrip) spell of 8th level or lower. There is no added benefit, but you may want to upcast it if you used up all your 2nd level slots.
bruh this be ****in op
Can someone misty step out of a pair of bindings, like manacles or rope?
So, you can't grapple someone and teleport them away, but you could totally grapple an enemy, jump off a cliff, and teleport back up to the ledge, right? he he he.
great spell
